Want camo for innawoods larping
>Crye costs a billion dollars
>Tru spec looks good but still expensive
Is there a decent, comfy, NIR compliant BDU set out there? I want to buy new because a lot of surplus camo glows when veiwed through NV. (For those of you who don't know, using anything but straight borax to clean camo ruins its IR properties. )

I have surplus BDU pants that I like that were $10. I'd be okay with paying a bit more for surplus stuff if it's not faded and doesn't glow.

Flame retardant would be a plus.

Why do you need NIR compliant camo for larping innawoods? Drop the retarded redundant requirements and you'll drop the price

Because I'm autistic and I just want it. It's not like NIR compliant materials are that expensive.

Buy surplus, you are dunning kreuger as fuck and only know half the equation yeah if you wash camo with shit soap you make it bright but it can be undone by more proper washes so just learn how to do that.

    >Crye costs a billion dollars
Crye is pretty worth while because of how comfy and durable they are. I got some army custom cryes and they worked ok. Although if you still don't want to spend money, then just get genuine issue military surplus like woodland BDUs, ACUs(OCP) or even MCCUU marpat.

      Anonymous

Crye is just not worth it in 2023. It's 300 bucks for the pants nowadays.

        Anonymous

Its pretty worthwhile in my opinion. But you can get standard issue uniforms for about $20. At the highest, they can go $80 depending on what you're getting. Fracus or even regular ACUs can go around $20 or $40.

Surplus is contaminated with optical brighteners. You have to buy new.

        Anonymous

Then buy a minted surplus. Look at the dates of the contract and see if its fresh out of the woodworks. You can buy MCCUUs and also ACU(UCP, OEF-CP, OCP) with their tags still on.

Your imagination funtime clothes are going to cost a bit of money. This is a hobby, if it's expensive, just save a little bit longer so the time value diminishes the dollar figure... I.E. Save small for long time for big buy. Is the money better spent on something else? Absolutely. Is it robbing away from actually priorities? Not really. I have a weekly fun budget of a hundred bucks. Instead of spending it all in one week, I let it accumulate until I can get something cool with it.

I know 5.11 Stryke pants probably don't have any IR properties and they don't come in camouflage patterns, but I just can't get away from the fucking things. Everything else I've owned binds like a mother fucker and tears eventually. Haven't gone up to Crye or the most Gucci brands, but as far as the baseline market stuff, it's been the most comfortable.

I've seen 5.11 at Bass Pro and pretty much every tactishartmart. They're the hot garbage brand of the tactical industry. Their pants are made with planned obsolescence in mind, so they rip every year and the fst lazy detectives wearing them have to use more uniform allowance money to buy new ones. Stay the fuck away from 5.11 regardless of ball shrinking chems, everything they make is just shit quality.

What makes something NIR compliant? Do they spray it with a bunch of impotence causing chemicals that will come off in the wash anyway?

Don't worry about it. It's something that's being done briefly before digital night vision takes over and it becomes a useless practice. It's expensive and barely masks you from NV, and if someone is looking for you at night that has NV they're going to see you anyway since it barely does shit. Don't fight against an NV equipped enemy at night. Get whatever the fuck pants you want because as soon as a competent country starts looking into digital NV it's going to become cheap and formidable.

Yes, but you can buy one without the crye slots, which will save you a bit of money. Unless you want to have one with the crye slots. Although, that would mean you have to buy crye knee pads, which is $20.

Cryes? It really depends. But for U.S. army surplus shit, they can range from $20-$100 depending on the type of pants. What the anon got is a flame resistant combat pants with crye slots used by the army. Those things are pricier than regular ACUs/FRACUs.
