For those here who actually have guns, how many times have you been shooting in the past year.
If I would believe what I read on these parts, most gun enthusiasts just like to talk about guns and play dress up

I went shooting 8 times this year.
3 times with my rifle, 4 times with my pistol and 1 time with my revolver.
I go weekly. I get half days on Friday, so Friday afternoons are range days.
How many rounds peer range trip?
>How many rounds peer range trip?
nta, but varies wildly. if I'm taking my pistols, up to 200, if I'm taking my 300WM, maybe 2 boxes (just enough to get in the zone and really do some concentration and slow fire) if I've got my muzzle loaders out, as few as 10-20 rounds.
Not that I don't believe you but I have a hard time believing you exhaust that much ammo. Even if you split it evenly between the two by rotating weekends that's still 3,400 pistol rounds and 700 win mag rounds this year alone. But who knows.
Two hundred rounds out of a handgun is pretty normal. I usually get bored by 150. Some guys will do 300 rounds once per month... But consider the following. If you save your money and buy a thousand round brick of Blazer 124gr or something, you can go five weeks or five months at that level of use, depending on how frequently you shoot. What I'm currently doing is restocking bulk .223, 9mm and 12 gauge. I'll go once every week or so when my kids are at school and cycle through one caliber per week, working on different things. This stretches out your ammo consumption a lot fucking further.
Yea I always buy in bulk, my go to for 9mm is cci blazer and S&B 124gr and for 5.56 I stock IMI and PMC xtac 55gr.
I have friends who have a dozen guns and only like 50 rounds of ammo in their house, they just buy ammo at the range when they shoot. Blows my mind. I tell them they’ll save money ordering online and they’re like “but the ammo might go bad if I keep it for a whole year!” Lol.
>I have friends who have a dozen guns and only like 50 rounds of ammo in their house, they just buy ammo at the range when they shoot.
I used to be like this, had more than twenty guns and only a few hundred mixed rounds of ammo on hand. Still have a lot of guns, but just focusing on my three main calibers and getting good with three guns specifically. I'll work .308 into the mix next year when I get a Ruger Scout. Always wanted one since it was first released, always talked myself out of it... Want it anyway. Can't resist the temptation any longer.
>they just buy ammo at the range when they shoot. Blows my mind.
agreed, I went to a stocking model, where I just grab what I want to shoot, then restock as things are cheap. much less stressful.
I went to a model where I buy ammo and hoard it, never shooting it. I buy ammo in bulk when good sales come around, but I always buy ammo at the range to shoot. I want to be buried with my ammunition like a pharaoh
Home range, only 70 yards right now (I know I know .. want to expand this) but I shoot at least once a week.
WTF. I used to keep spare ammo in a shed outside, huge temp and humidity swings. Just shot the last box of 9mm Federal from that era after years stored like that, it all sent just fine.
Depends on the caliber. Today I shot about 200 22lr. Last Tuesday, 20 30-06 and 40 .308
now say
>1500-2000 rounds of 22lr, 1000 rounds of 9mm, 300 rounds of .380, 250 rounds of .357 and .38 special, a couple hundred rounds of 44magnum
and it doesn't seem silly.
and I have other rifles too, sure, 40 rounds of 300WM, or 458WM or a fresh batch of reloads with 45-70 that I'm shooting with the chronograph, slow fire of my muzzle loading double-rifle etc.
doing more than just blasting paper slows you (or in this case, me) WAY down and makes more fun per round. hell, it might take me an hour to shoot those 10 rounds of muzzle loader, simply because I'm not in a rush and I'm enjoying loading, and cleaning and shooting and waiting and simply being focused and unperturbed about stuff.
200rds .22lr, usually a quarter that of 9mm, then it's off to the bar.
every week or two, my in laws have 300 acres of hills so I don't have to share a range with tyrone and cletus
60-150 rounds of 5.56, 60-150 rounds of 9mm usually. Less if I'm drilling reloads
I am
As others have said, it varies depending both on caliber and what I'm shooting. If I'm practicing with my home defense or carry guns (two 9's and a 380) then I'm going through a couple hundred rounds at least. If I'm shooting the old girls (my mil surp that's 100 years old or so) Then it might be less than 100 rounds. If I'm plinking with the 22 pistols, something between 100 and 200, maybe more depending on my mood. If i'm precision shooting with the 22 bolt actions, probably about 100.
Every Saturday and Sunday.
Church of the Range.
haven't shot in years. I used to shoot a ton almost every weekend but the passion hasn't been there since I bought a house.
Not as much as I would like. I think I've only gone three times this year. Pathetic I know.
Probably like 12 times so far this year, usually shooting 200-500 center fire rounds
maybe twice a year. the outdoor range it to far away and I detest indoor ranges. before my dad sold his farm I would shoot 2 or three times a month

Havent actually shot a gun in 4 years or so. Though i did shoot twice a month for almost a decade before i stopped.
I could pull out a gun and go to the range if i felt like it but i just dont feel like it.
>For those here who actually have guns, how many times have you been shooting in the past year
30ish, new job has me away from home a lot, but until now I went every other weekend or more frequently. I quite enjoy my guns.
I try to shoot everytime i go out to see my relatives, but lately they have needed a lot more help and by the end if the day im knackered and just drink beer by the fire. Ive probably only gone shooting maybe 5-6 times this year. Im going out tmrw so hopefully i can out a few hundred rounds down this weekend
I work 7 on 7 off, so I do a range trip every other week shooting ~100 rounds
I try and go once every two weeks, at least once a month, more if i can. Been 3 times the last two weeks if that tells you anything.
I legitimately shoot ~30-40 rounds of 22lr every other day, if not sometimes every day.
Like, I come home from work, grab a beer and a Browning A-bolt, go out in the driveway and punch milk jugs I have tied to poles on the hillside behind my house ranging from like 50-200 yards out.
I used to do it from the deck but my gf asked me to move to the driveway because sometimes I'd miss a bunch of the casings between the boards (that's totally fair, I'm really lazy) and then her friends or mother would come over and ask why there were so many bullet shells laying all over on the deck.
A lot of her relatives and friends are not really fans of guns in general so I try to keep it out of their faces so she doesn't have to put up with their shit.
I don't really shoot rifle calibers at home because we have neighbors nearby and they tolerate my daily jug jamming as is, so I'd rather not rock the boat.
Sometimes I'll shoot 9mm, but generally I'll just go to a nearby range for that, probably once a month.
Picunrelated, just god smiting a random Chinese toilet.
When my kids are in school, about once every week or two depending on my ammo stockpile. When my kids are out of school, not really much at all. Went to the range once this summer.
only three times this year unfortunately, one skeet and two at an indoor range. It can be hard to get out there when my only options are a shitty indoor range for 25/hour or drive an hour and a half to pay 30 dollars to shoot at 100 yards outside
Same problem I live in NoVa which doesn’t have much outside indoor ranges. I just bite the bullet and get an indoor range membership at a place 10min from my house so I can shoot unlimited. I go a few times a month and it works out to $10-15 per trip for 1-2 hours.
The closest outdoor ranges are 90 min from my house which sucks ass and to buy property with land you can actually shoot on requires you to move 2-3 hours away to bumfuck WV, maybe 75min away if you’re rich as fuck.
Fuck the east coast
>I just bite the bullet and get an indoor range membership at a place 10min from my house so I can shoot unlimited
the really nice high quality range near my house doesn't have a membership option, if they did I would. They only have a '10 use voucher' which only gets you like 20% off.
About twice a month. My father in law is retired and doesn't know what to do with himself, so I head down to the range with him.
I'm not the biggest fan of static indoor shooting, but he enjoys it so I'll shoot my CCW for the practice, and he'll shoot some big stupid revolver and whatever meme gun he bought most recently.
It's nice. We get lunch afterwards.
When I was working selling guns I did it at least 2 times a week. Now that Ive moved somewhere that I have to pay 15$ to shoot all day, Only once every couple weeks.
usually once a week or once every other week
Every month or two on average. I haven't been out this year since the beginning of summer though, my gay car shat the bed and I'm still shopping for a new one
Used to go weekly but after second kid I've been going way less. I've been 3 times since June 2022, sadge. Got back into golf though as well
Monthly
Once a month, at least. Always make time for it. I go through 1000 rounds of 9x19 every two or three months.
