babys first plate carrier

What are some of the best plates and plate carriers to get for my first purchase? Is there a list of best to worst, or breakdown of different quality? Or are they all more or less the same?

okay then buy a condor MOPC in bulk. if you buy 300+ of them you can likely get them for $30 a piece and be able to supply your entire Ghetto. You won't have actual plates but you'll have plate-carriers; which can instill confidence in combatants. If your ghetto-allies WANT to spend an extra $200 for an actual plate they can do that, but the carrier alone will be a boon.

Crye SPC with small cummerbund since they run large. Esstac kywis triple mag shingle up front. Your pick of RMA, Hesco, LTC (through Hoplite) or Highcom NIJ certified plates.

          Ive heard of crye. Also

          >t rex arms
          >direct action
          >spartan armor
          >AR 500
          >KDH magnum TAC-1

and some others, but it seems like they all look the same and do the same thing

NIJ certified armor, composites only. Ceramic, kevlar, polyethylene. Do not even look at steel.

pick from this list, doesn't have to be these exact PC's, but these are quality companies.

lucas doesn't make his PC's in house and there was a whole debacle where they were made in Mexico. Aside from this, there is nothing standing out from that design especially for the price. AR500 and Spartan sell steel garbage armor and do not make their own PC's. Look at Hesco or Hoplite for armor plates.

any major differences between these? Aside from the brand name, they all look identical. Could I just pick any at random and get the same performance

basically yes. The AVS has a much more involved suspension system so it will be more comfortable for longer.

I have a Ferro Concepts Slicker and I find it to be very comfy. I also ordered a Whiskey Two Four bladder-carrier that straps around the rear-plate as well as a "quick detach tube" from a&a tactical.

this seems like a good thread to ask. Im also looking at some plate carriers but also some bullet proof vests. Im a security guard, the job is pretty chill but we've seen an increase in crazies, homeless, drug addicts ect. The vest they gave us is shit. we shot an extra one and a 9mm went rent through it. I asked my boss and he said I could by my own. what do you guys recommend?

I'd suggest a IIIa certified vest with a stab rating. Plate carriers tend toward shitty coverage compared to vests and whats more likely - someone shooting at you with a rifle or someone stabbing you in the flank with a shitty blade?

You want hesco 4400s or 4401s. Level IV ceramics. Soft armor is garbage, AR500/steel is garbage.

you're good. Uno/MEPC/Slickster are all the same fricking thing. Slick plate carriers with scalability are the future. You can ever wear a slick plate carrier WITH load-bearing equipment and still be good-to-go.
Brits wear plate carriers with "belt & yokes" underneath
