Italy should just quit building tanks and IFV because it's really not our thing. We should focus on copters and boats.

"Evaluating" is what we've been doing for the last 1,5 years, including winter trials and reviewing the final offer received last month.
"Choosing" is what we will do based on the evaluation. Should be coming around november/desember

              >it's just making me dislike koreans.
That's the point, which is why I highly doubt he's korean or american. China is terrified of the fact that the US, Japan and Korea are inching closer and closer to a solid trilateral security structure, and I imagine they're absolutely livid that Russia chimping out and now North Korea going back to moronic missile tossing is accelerating that. Nothing helps to bury the hatchet like having three other violent psychopaths making ooga booga noises next door. As a result, China is throwing anything they can at the wall to try and keep the US, Japan and Korea comparatively separate

I wish the discussion around that in the public spheres wasn't stupid.

We had economic mismanagement for ten years. Procurement was a corrupt shitshow with everything costing way too much for basic b***h equipment. Even now it's like our small arms contract is a war of attrition against the ADF. Thank frick the signals directorate got a bigger piece of the pie last funding cycle because maybe less bullshit spending will occur. It's a shame that the IFV once again suffers, because that capability was important, and the Redback really does look good and I think the Redback is best placed to be useful within our region. The public discussion of "Why do we need an IFV anyway?/Oh here we go, Labor is SLASHING defence spending!" is such fricking nonsense.

Why do we need an ifv?
We need a navy and an airforce, if we have to use the infantry in defence of Australia it means we’ve already failed and we might as well wait for daddy yankee to bail us out

Picking an IFV with it's factories next to their main potential invader (China) is why I don't think AUS will pick the redback. There's a lot of scenarios where South Korea gets into a pickle with NK, too.

There's probably one guy who is actually shilling. But most of us who are interested, are interested because Korea is an outsider doing well in a game where everyone else is same old same old. If Guatemala could offer a damn good AR or Swaziland showed up with a great attack chopper we would be all over that too. Everybody loves an underdog.

The big boy manufacturers of armored vehicles of any type are mainly France, England, Germany, USA and arguably Sweden and Swtizerland. They are all led by people who went to the same universities and are personal buddies with key defense politicians. There's very little exciting about which of them wins the next bidding round and we will not be told who incidentally gets free new apartments in Dubai a year later. Having Korea show up with a serious offer is like having someone from Studio Ghibli showing up in a Belgian drawing contest.

That’s all fan fiction though. Korea isn’t competitive. They have to offer domestic manufacturing and full teach transfer to even register on countries radar. That is another brand of the politics you mentioned in your reply

Combination of typical Asian patriotism by Koreans, yellow fever asiaticlovers from the west, paid Korean gov/hanwha shills (online diplomats), russhits who can now only use Korean stuff to „own“ the west and probably some chinks who try to make Koreans look like overly patriotic homosexuals (which they are but not to such a comical degree)

      Yes.
The defence ministry says the Borsuk will be the "light" IFV because of it's amphibious capabiity (a design requirement for pretty much every vehicle in Poland) and asiaticshit is supposed to be the "heavy" IFV" that does not have this design contstraint.

I've read that their ambitious plans is to have light armored formations with K2 tanks and Borsuk IFVs and heavy armored formations with abrams and redback to offer some "flexibility". I have no idea whether that's a good idea or not, basically just relaying the info I've read on the topic so far.

Probably not, pretty sure Ajax alone outweighs all of those. Also Poland has purchased literally every western or western-aligned AFV possible at this point, a sale to them barely counts
