Oh that looks like a fun exoplanet rover, alright.
Even the test driver looks amused.
My fear is that it'll be a maintenance hog like the Stroyka.

Hopefully they will be flexible enough not to over-emphasize compatibility copy-paste from the ACV where that would add unnecessary complexity for a non-amphibious vehicle

Is this related to the ACV? or is it something new?

Same platform, but meant to replace the LAV

Interesting. I wonder if the Commandant has some specific platform ideas? He must, as he appears to be very against the ARV and even the ACV to lesser extent.

Meanwhile Textron's competing design is this but with a Kongsberg 30mm turret like Stryker Dragoon

Is that coiled black cable for a camera on an extendable pole? Like an old news truck? I've been thinking about elevated cameras plus indirect fire from 40mm grenade launchers. Put it all on a low hulled remote controlled rover.

Sometimes I wonder why these things ain't used as spotters and provide Lazer guidance to guided Ammo.

God, I want this to be mass produced. I want it every day.

it looks a little tall for how wide it is

Looks cool, but way too high centered. Will be on its side in no time. Saw a few strykers do the same.

it does have a low w/h ratio but how much does that really matter if you have a half competent driver? Dakar trucks seem to manage.

those are lighter and most of their weight is positioned low.

Yeah but the dakar trucks also have an even lower w/h ratio and they hit corners at higher speeds. Also in what context did you see a stryker roll? Or was that someone else?

Group T5s are mostly empty space in the back. The cab is the only part that's higher than your standard buggy/truggy.
their height, as far as center of gravity is concerned, is pretty low.

That was me, the first Stryker came around a corner hot, port side hit berm and side city. The second one was on its side when we got there, that was driver error from what we were told. I like the Stryker so no slam.

    >marines are getting a prototype ARV
Is it amphibious? If so, good. If not, why?

      >Is it amphibious? If so, good.
      No
      >If not, why?
Because it's supposed to complement the one that is (ACV).

*No is a bit over-stated. It's the same family as the ACV. "Water mobility sufficient to support shore-to-shore operations" is a lower bar than the ACV's requirements though.

Too damn tall. How many times has this prototype been flipped over already?

      Anonymous

Presumably every single time it has tried to do a turn at more than walking speed.

But let's be positive. It wlil not flip over in sand or mud because it will get stuck there.

WAit, frick. Marines will drive it, so it will end up stuck and flipped over.

Another multi billion dollar procurement disaster the American tax payer will have to foot the bill for. Ali Express is already taking orders for more drone kits. Shameful.

I am Peteyboy McGriffinburger from Khalifornaya oblast and have of demoralizings being. US national duma wastes billions on wunderwaffe like modern apc or pallets when that cans be of going instead toward national turnip reserves or Black discotheque music enrichingments to get crime off of streets of my hometown Comtown. Premier Baйden is not of sound mind compared to focused genius Putin. Best not to anger the bear. I am real USA man!

Is this a variant of the ACV, which is a variant of the SuperAV which is a variant of the Guarani, which is a variant of the Freccia, which is a variant of the Centauro?

No the only thing they'll have in common is the 30mm gun. BAE who are making the ACV, aren't in the running for ARV
