>Art mirrors the soul, from which tactics arise.

>Art mirrors the soul, from which tactics arise. One can see in artwork the strengths and weaknesses of those who created it. In fact, if one has a sufficient variety of art to study, one can extend and extrapolate to the strengths, weaknesses, and tactics of entire cultures.

Does any of this have any real-world application?

no, at best you can understand if a culture is more prone to fight or not but that's something we can do by learning their history, not their art

Making assumptions about military performance based solely on cultural observations or stereotypes almost always leads to total disaster so no, the moron SciFi writer that wrote that is definitely wrong.

Thrawn's strategy doesn't make sense as says. It'd be better to actually read and study what's being employed and extrapolate how inventive your enemy might be and how feasibly you could outmaneuver them and their gear. Also read up on history to learn valuable lessons.

    no that's moronic
go to your local art museum and see what conclusions you can draw about the martial prowess of the artists' nations at the time, if your answer is "nothing" you are just making shit up

That's not what the quote says. You can infer cultural trends of the times from experiencing art, which isn't limited to paintings. Music is often rather telling of the times and places it was written in.

Well art does mirror the soul, or rather anything you create is necessarily filtered through your understanding of the world so it's probably possible to reverse engineer some what a person thinks or feels by looking at what they create.
But I always say that you have to be careful with this kind of analysis since it only gives a very limited insight into a person's mind.
If I had a really rough weak and wrote an extremely depressing poem as an outlet for my frustration, it'd be easy to read that and assume that I am a sad person who has never felt a glimpse of happiness, when in reality that's just a tiny part of who I am.

That's how you end up thinking things like this:
    >the USA allows gays and pride flags in it's military so it will be stomped by Orthodox Russian army
    >ACK!
    Completely moronic.

I am a chud, but it's objectively the case that Russia can't even handle Ukraine, let alone the USA. But there's people out there thinking that seeing a pride flag on a US Army base means that the USA doesn't have a devastating advantage over shit-tier armies like Russia. USA lost Afghanistan due to bad politics, not because of military reasons.

The only thing that matters in war is demography. The more creatures you can throw at the enemy, the more you win.

you have to be real careful interpreting it, and recognizing the things of interest require you already being at expert level understanding on the subject matter
