What are some other Department of Defense/Military Industrial Complex themes that remain constant decade after decade and never change? How do they keep sucessfully conning us with the same thing over and over?

How much distilled krokodil do you need to believe you can field 2300 of anything requiring sanctioned electronics post-2014 lmao. The Russian brain never ceases to amaze.

It’s a shit and low effort thread, but I think you’ve been mindbroken if you think this is a vatnik shill thread. This is a pretty typical low effort PrepHole thread I could have seen any time in the last 6 or so years. Actually I might have seen this in 2010 and not even blinked

    >>Army: We need to develop and adopt a new handgun/rifle
Good, AR-15 is a horrible platform.
    >>Air Force: We need to retire the A10 warthog and replace it with (insert anything here)
Good, A-10 is a horrible airplane that is in service because retarded grunts on the ground formed a cult around it that ended up influencing the state apparatus to keep it in service despite it being the worst jet currently fielded by USAF.
Corp: The V-22 Osprey is safe and effective, all of the bugs have been worked out.
It is effective and safe, it is just a little bit more unreliable than other airframes but you notice it because NATO states fly their airframes outside warzones so their pilots know how to do their jobs.

The payload is good but it's too slow and it's hard for pilots to fly, PID targets, and hit them with missiles.
The gun is a meme (but a cool one, admittedly) but actively detracts from making the plane good.
The things A-10 is supposed to be good at are now better done by long-loitering drones or by airplanes with better avionics, speed and data linking like F-35 or even current-gen F-16.

          >The payload is good
Not even, its effectively the same as an F-16's.

What about the relative costs of operation and replacement parts? Or the survivability of the aircraft when taking hits?

            >What about the relative costs of operation and replacement parts? Or the survivability of the aircraft when taking hits?

Cost per flight hour is the same as the F-16 within a couple of percent, and if you want to talk about money savings, not getting shot is much cheaper then having to write off an airframe even if it returned home.

The A-10 is cool as shit, I've even seen a pair operate above me doing gun runs somewhere nearby. The thing is, the A-10 is completely obsolete in the age of guided missiles. Guided missiles from the air, sea, and ground, shit, they even come in tubes now and they're getting cheaper every day. The A-10 is heavily armored and heavily armed, that's why it's pigfat slow, but all that armor and payload is useless when some goat herder with a manpad can take your plane down.

    >Army
PrepHole loves to accuse the Marines of being retarded crayon eaters, but if that is the case the Army is a brain dead vegetable kept alive by horrifically expensive life support that fails often and has to be replaced at the cost of even MORE MONEY.
    >Army Carbine trials
Fuck you, adopt the SCAR or the HK416 or get your budget cut. The Army could have rocked out a 12.5 while the Marines could rock a 20".
    >M855A1
Overpriced for what it brought to the table, Mk262 did most of what it did and a M855E1 that used a hardened steel penetrator and a 7n6 style air gap to ensure tumbling could have been a cost efficient solution.
    >UCP
Either pay the Marines or stick with you got or it gets the budget cut again.
    >Striker
    Jesus fucking Christ.
    >M8
Too pure for this gay earth.
The Marines could be rocking power armor and literal spaceships with the budget the Army wastes on retarded shit.

as a Marine, I love how retardedly stubborn we are about retardedly old methods and equipment that just work. I've been out for almost a decade and some of the lessons the Corps drilled into me helped me in my civilian life more than I could've imagined
