They’re a high priority target for partisans or commando forces. Having some guys with aks is one of the smarter things Russia has done.

i cant tell if theres only the 1 gun car, seems like you need at least two (front and back) a third would be ideal, the intersecting fieldsof fire, unlimited ammo, no one jacking that train!!

Ironically the Railway Forces have been getting hollowed out really bad with troopers being sent to the line to fight as infantry. Most of the train guards now are conscripts with little to no training (lol) in train warfare

How long until they start grabbing the silo guards for the front?

              >How long until they start grabbing the silo guards for the front?
They have been doing it for half a year. We saw multiple BPM-97s used on frontline during summer.
Before war, BPMs were not used by regular army. They were bought as escort vehicles for their mobile ICBM launchers. (remember summer media fermongering about "russian nuclear forces seen around ukraine"? Yeah, they were talking about these cans)

Amusingly, the BPM was used in one of the funniest russian videos of that time

              >How long until they start grabbing the silo guards for the front?
They have probably already done it since summer. Russian strategic rocket forces has infantry training regiment and bunch of light infantry battalions to guard their missiles. They need more personnel than Americans to guard their nukes as substantial part of their nuclear weapons are road mobile. They also have their own aviation assets, each strategic rocket army has its own mixed aviation regiment for their support, anything from heavy airlifters to helicopters.

I don't understand, to disrupt a train wouldn't you damage the tracks, or perhaps use a derailer?

      >why is it only protected against infantry?
      >why doesnt the anti air have any fire control system on it to make it so you can hit anything smaller than a mi-6 as you're violently shacking and rocking as you move fast down the tracks?
      >why is the train armored only against SOME small arms fire?
      >how does any of this stop the train from being wiped out by missiles or tanks?
      >why does russia need to armor and arm up the trains travelling through it's own territory?
