I have 2 5.56 ARs already, I have a completed lower with a folding stock. I was thinking of getting something in 300blk with like a 10" barrel. it's a flashlight with no capability of being adjusted. a lam is the same as your optic and needs to be zeroed to put rounds on target. this is why a stronger mounting solution is needed like the dd ris ii or the hk416 locking system. with an ir illuminator a utg drop in quad would do.

for NVG/IR capable rails, i recommend watching hop's video on the topic.
I personally really like my v7 enlightened rail. Similar to the old ALG rails, It uses a meme alloy that is stiffer than standard aluminum, and it screws directly to the barrel nut unlike the midwest rails that rely on friction.

I swapped every component on my AR to emulate the v7 enlightened rifles and it is a dream. titanium crossbolt, trigger pin, castle nut, endplate, barrel nut, etc. It was very expensive. However, now my AR is under 9.5lbs fully loaded with optic, flashlight, LAM, suppressor, and backup sights.
imo v7 needs to be recommended more. it's life changing

4 prong is worse in every single way compared to 3 prong. It's just an older design that surefire improved on. Military still mostly uses 4 prong because lol military procurement. Even so there are a handful of rifles out there with 3 prongs on issued rifles.
4 prong is more desirable on the civilian cloner market because that's what's in the cool pictures and surefire doesn't make many for civilian sales, because there's not much reason for the 4 prong to even exist anymore.

If you want to raise the 512 to the height of an EXPS (lower 1/3rd), ADM and Larue both make risers specifically for that, the Unity is a bit taller so would raise it above lower 1/3rd.

One of the subtle downsides of mini magnifiers is that the short length means you have to crane your head forward more to get into the eyebox. They work will with frickhueg optics like the uh1 - otherwise regular ol g33 is better imo

There's a lot of used ones on the market right now from people deciding they need a g45. You can get a used g33 for like $350-400 depending on condition.

I personally really like my v7 enlightened rail. Similar to the old ALG rails, It uses a meme alloy that is stiffer than standard aluminum, and it screws directly to the barrel nut unlike the midwest rails that rely on friction.

I swapped every component on my AR to emulate the v7 enlightened rifles and it is a dream. titanium crossbolt, trigger pin, castle nut, endplate, barrel nut, etc. It was very expensive. However, now my AR is under 9.5lbs fully loaded with optic, flashlight, LAM, suppressor, and backup sights.

4 prong is worse in every single way compared to 3 prong. It's just an older design that surefire improved on. Military still mostly uses 4 prong because lol military procurement. Even so there are a handful of rifles out there with 3 prongs on issued rifles.

It really doesn't seem like it tbh, they're as available as ever and their prices didn't even increase much. I'm not DD anon, but I own a frickload of DD products and not much has changed from what I can tell. DD seems to have weathered everything better than most other brands, especially others in their price bracket. I imagine this is because they produce as much as possible in house, so they're less affected by lead times from outside sources.

If you want to raise the 512 to the height of an EXPS (lower 1/3rd), ADM and Larue both make risers specifically for that, the Unity is a bit taller so would raise it above lower 1/3rd.
