Overall he was a somewhat competent commander that knew how to play a persona and that innured him to not only the cameras but to the dipshit pencil pushers in army bureacracy.
You want someone that actually worked hard for their achievements look at eisenhauer. motherfricker grew up with a dirt floor and was one of the few people that Patton knew not to frick with through all the hissyfits he’d throw in WWII- mostly because Ike knew Patton on a personal level and they got along nicely, but also because Ike wasn’t afraid to let him know that he’d knock Patton down from a commander to a plain propaganda piece if he didnt fricking behave.
Overall though I’d say MacArthur was the worst general in WWII.
