I only want to do 2gun acm, it's politically useful to have a shooting sport with modern guns, and it's good training
maybe a biathlon/ski n shoot but with full power milsurp rifles. that could be integrated in 2gun though.

Service rifle is shot with the US service rifle (AR 15) and service pistol is shot with service pistols, usually accurized M9s by the Military teams but I think they're starting to shoot accurized M17s this year. Most civilian competitors are using a 1911.

I seem to recall IQ and accuracy having a correlation, probably similar effect to how IQ correlates with reaction time.

I've theorized this since every high level bullseye/international shooter I've spoken to has been an extremely intelligent and stimulating individual. I wish someone would have compiled ASVAB scores vs USMC Table 1 scores before they did away with Table 1. I bet you there would be a strong correlation between the two. Closest study I could find was an Army study on I believe tank gunnery and found a correlation there between average tank crew asvab score.

I expected/expect the bullseye videos to do poorly but won't stop me from trying. Getting better at shooting is not nearly as popular as trying to sell the next gimmick or weapon light for consoomers.

Shamefully this is me, I don't even know why I own a precision rifle

Bullseye and Olympic shooting are fricking gay. The best shooting sport is clay shotgun sports.
      >is an approximate adjacent for a real world skill (shooting birds) instead of measuring your perfectly balanced standing one handed half blinded shooting
      >practical beater shotguns are approximately equal to bougie homosexual blasters optimized for the sport, has an exceptionally low cost of entry
      >practice actually does make perfect
3gun is gay but at least it's better at measuring shooting under duress. A boomer bench shooting his 30-06 at a kilometer just for shits is expressing more talent than an Olympic shooter.

      > A boomer bench shooting his 30-06 at a kilometer just for shits is expressing more talent than an Olympic shooter
Talent, no. But practical skill, yes

You're actually moronic if you think trap and skeet has the lowest barrier to entry and have obviously never tried any olympic/international sport. the gun is the cheapest part of trap/skeet, access to the facility is the hardest barrier and 99.9% of people do not have the means to go out to the skeet range every single day like is necessary to get practice to the level you need to be at to go international. 3 position and 10m Air Rifle are mid-level in barrier to entry as the rifles are not cheap and the huge straight jacket setup they have are also not cheap, in addition to looking ridiculous. 10m Air Pistol can be practiced to the HIGHEST level with a $600 Izh 46M. And that's basically all you need. 1000 high quality kruger targets can be bought for $55. Pellets are incredibly cheap. Practice in your backyard, practice in your basement, hallway etc. and Dry fire practice is exactly the same mental process as live fire in 10m air pistol.

Also I don't hunt birds, but I do hunt deer and it's very nice to know I can smoke a deer at 100 yds with a 357 magnum. Not to mention being able to rid the area of all kinds of vermin/pests with ease with a .22 etc. Bullseye is perfectly applicable to the real world. Also when you look at self defense shootings, there are plenty where the victim is defending himself strong side only. if you can shoot strong side only, you can shoot with a support hand but not vice versa.

As far as 25m international goes or American CMP/NRA Bullseye (25/50yd), you can get a Hammerli 208 for about 800-900 on Simpson and that pistol holds the record for 25m international sport pistol, set in the 1980s. Even still, a MkIV Ruger can get you very, very far in the sport.

For $150 I can get a beater shotgun, add another $200 for a pair of trap throwers. I can now play trap and skeet for less than the cost of your shotgun.

Okay moronic city slicker, trap ranges are fricking everywhere and are dirt cheap. A friend with a clay thrower or an automatic one and a drive to public land are also dirt cheap.
Frick you, have a nice day

you've obviously never competed in anything, definitely never played any spprts in high school. to be competitive you need to practice all the time and exactly the same way as it's going to be the day of the race/match etc. Olympic trap uses 125 targets and another 50 for the final. so if you're practicing every day like you should be, you're going to burning through over $100 of clay pigeons daily, plus ammo, plus the drive, plus the time investment. to practice bullseye/25m international, you can dry fire anywhere, all day long for free and actual live fire practice costs you as little as 30 shots of .22lr and 3 paper targets.

there definitely is. watch africans and arabs shoot sometime. low iq doesn't even get how lining up sights work. high IQ there's some kind of psychic phenomenon going on. it's like, "see the arrow fly and hit the target before you loose the string"

I only mag dump old television sets and couches that rednecks leave in the woods.

I've shot an old TV, was great. mag dumping is for tards tho. I always prefer shooting real targets, tin cans and such, to shooting paper.

the problem with shooting trash is its hard to track your hits and evaluate your performance. I always paste up my TVs and old microwaves after half a mag or so.

Eventually you find it beginning to rule your life, and it sucks the fun out of shooting.

Image related, some of the last targets I shot for grins. Each is a ten round string from a Colt Huntsman.

Nice shooting tex. I agree about the rifle sports, i like bullseye/pistol because of how non committal it is. I can practice any time, no special gear needed, don't have to get on the floor, i can show upto a match with just a pistol, lots of opportunity for .22 only as well. I actually started off shooting service rifle and the only way I'd see myself getting back into it is if i re enlisted and got uncle sam to pay for it lol.

the gayest and dumbest sport ever, because it doesn't translate
all of the gimmickry they employ cannot be used in a practical situation using real guns, especially not for defense

      Anonymous

lol what gimmickry is there in bullseye? it's literally just shooting strongside only. give it a try, soujds like youre just bad

        Anonymous

The gimmickry is they allow red dots/scopes instead of banning all that and requiring iron sights only

          Anonymous

that's for 2700s/match pistol only, and you know red dots are commonly used on duty and carry guns right? Plus there is an iron sights only division if that's what you want to shoot, there is also a .22 only division.
Service pistol/eic is the other half of bullseye and those guns are iron sights only and have more stringent requirements. Whenever people talk about Bullseye negatively it's usually because they don't know anything about bullseye

            Anonymous

EIC is too autistically strict about what pistols / calibers you can use

And open is gay because they allow optics

They just need to have an open pistol category but with optics banned, like with ISSF

              Anonymous

there is. you compete in a different category. any sight vs metallic sights. but what does it matter what other people are using? you're competing against yourself. the world record of 2680 was also set with iron sights and it has a huge gap on the 2nd place.
