Sure, but even in that specific scenario I don’t think full auto brings any real benefit over magdumping a semi. We’re talking something like twice to three times the rate of fire. Would a machinegun with a rof of 600rnd/minute be worse off than a 1200rnd/minute one in that scenario? No. Most trench clearing sub guns had a rof <600. I would understand not complying with a magazine capacity restriction, or barrel length for maneuverability, but machineguns are all but useless.
