Are these two tank prototypes the same?

I know very little about futuristic tanks so I have some questions:

Up: miniature of most recent prototype of Korean K3 tank

Bottom: model of Polish PL-01 Concept tank from 2013 (allegedly cancelled in 2015)

Are these two oddly similar or all futuristic tanks will share this general shape and details (as these freckles on back of the turret or placement of front lights or thick panels on sides etc.)?

My first thought was that Korean-Polish cooperation on franchising military industry went much further and deeper than anyone thought, so Koreans have access to Polish projects and they are ressurecting them as part of cooperation on future stuff.

However my friend (who isn't into tanks, but is engineer in metalurgy and also is on spectrum of autism) said if they both have same features and purpose then it's natural they look so similar. I don't know, to me if they are both prototypes of next gen tank, they still look as different to T-14 as T-14 looks to T-34.

Believe your friend, anon, it's a nothingburger.
Poland and SK are not jointly working on the new K3 tank and they are not planning to start joint production of the new Krab/K9 hybrid.

that's wrong, the Polish-Korean consortium has already been formed and contracts are being signed

PL-01 is a CV90-120 with loads of composite applique armor and some sort of APS system.

is wood a valid composite armor? would alternating slabs of 40mm RHA / 400mm wood / 40mm RHA provide better or worse protection against HEAT than an equivalent weight of pure RHA? Do you want a hard wood like oak or a super light wood like balsa?

it's mostly a meme, even the most nationalistic poles admit that PL-01 was just a cardboard model. K-3 might be somewhat inspired by its overall shape but I doubt our R&D has anything groundbreaking to offer

PL-01 wasn't even a prototype, it's was CV-90 coated with cardboard cutout, the concern that did this wanted some government gibs but the ministry of defense wasn't interested

It was cardboard model, but it's general shape and placement of all that intended fancy stuff wasn't taken from thin air, but based on some project.

Question still stands: did Koreans based K3 on the same project or all futuristic space tanks will look like that for some reason? If T-14 was any indication of how next gen tanks will look like (similar to how Stg-44 looked similar to AK and modern assault rifles, because it shared their function and features) these two are very different and yet very similar to each another.

Man, I really dislike the trend of low-poly tanks. No aesthetic, no SOVL, just bad rendering and flat surfaces.

that's because there's only one "cool generic sci-fi tank" look that doesn't involve quad tracks or multiple turrets
we will not get any actually functional next-gen designs until the current MBTs get stress tested in a real war

That's why 78 of the 80 units were sold or donated to Ukraine since last year. I assume the last 2 are going to be kept as museum pieces.

Taking a K9 chassis and putting it together with a French turret and a BAE gun barrel made a pointless frankenstein.

You guys need to remember your roots! Remember that armored car they built in a factory basement for the Warsaw Uprising? Damn thing looked more professionally done than most of Germany's cringe light-armor.

Also remember that time the Soviets demanded a jet-propelled cropduster and the Polish created the worst cropduster ever built? Poland is really good at strangely professional engineering, you guys need to keep up the tradition! Who cares if it works, it'll look cool!

As silly as the design is it's actually pretty well thought out, albeit in a highly autistic way. The fat wing struts store the pesticide, biplane configuration gives improved low level and short field performance, and the high mounted engine eliminates exhaust messing with the pesticide spraying while also reducing risk of ingesting debris when operating from primitive agricultural airstrips. The main crippling aspects of the designs were the fact it was jet powered which limited range and increased operating cost and that it was meant to replace the AN-2 which was a much more versatile and cheaper platform. It's a hard sell to take a cheap crop duster that can pull double duty as a light transport and replace it with an expensive one that can only do cropdusting.

What kind of "stealth" does a tank needs anyway?

Thermal concealment so it doesn't glow on even the most basic sensors from miles away. It's the main issue with trying to conceal tanks from air targets.

The "concept" is literally a fricking CV90 in a bullshit movie prop bodykit that BAE tried to israelite pooplska with.
(they managed to secure a deal for them AS-90 turrets that once delivered, pooplska would fit with a rheinmetall-made gun, bolt onto a korean-delivered K9 suspension with a maybach-produced motor jammed inside, load czech-made ammunition and preach huge domestic military production success to the masses in the pigsty)
