Isn't LPL one of the top 50 lockpicks on earth? He talks about being able to pick stuff that only a handful of others have done before.

There are a lot of people, I seriously doubt he's that good. He's definitely way beyond your average locksmith. I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the top 1000.

that kind of job box is ass at protecting its padlock
the only kind that is decent at doing so will have a fully recessed slot so all you can get at on the lock will be the lock face.
and even then those things are NOT that thick.

here is a piano job box. refers to the style of it and how it opens.
you can see what I mentioned here

that kind of job box is ass at protecting its padlock
the only kind that is decent at doing so will have a fully recessed slot so all you can get at on the lock will be the lock face.
and even then those things are NOT that thick.

          how it protects the padlock.

Its STILL ass because of how much thinner it is and a lack of shit like

A job box can't be anchored to concrete like a safe can, it's not concrete lined and fire rated and has much weaker hinges and locking mechanism.

          said.
Though I admit I am curious if you could convert it to be a bit more resistant.

You could always weld reinforcements onto it, why the frick not.

I was thinking more about ways to cast concrete thickeners into it.
Also wondered what would happen if you unbolted the wheels from the supports you see in the photo and SUNK it into some fresh cement.
very over the top for little gains, but fun to ponder

Good job boxes have inset lock areas that are filled with the lock. Yes, it can be picked but there's two of them, video and an alarm going off while you do it. Again, depends on target demographic.

That works for a job site against nogs and metheads, but for something in your home assumes the attacker has a shit ton of time and is more prepared. Also it's in your home, get something that looks nice, you deserve it.

I'd have no issue stashing ammo in something like that. If its all OP can afford, it much better than nothing.

If cost is an issue, just hide your funs under the floor like I used to. I had a piece of hardwood floor that could be shimmied out and it fit all my stuff perfectly.

I had exactly that kind of box bolted to the floor in a closet and it resisted at least one robbery. Something nicer wasn't an option at the time.

This guys get it. If you have a single layer in your security plan, you really are just asking for it.

That is statistically false. Unless somebody magically knows you're on vacation, burglaries are in and out as fast as possible with 15 minutes being way too fricking long.

No safe is really secure following the invention of the battery powered angle grinder. 95% of theft is smash and grab, so that's going to be fine, but if someone wants in, they are getting in.

My dream is a solid safe that is bolted to a steel plate that is mounted under my joists, with access to the plate and joists in question blocked by a cement wall under the house
the safe is placed inside of a specially constructed closet with steel plates welded in a box around the walls of the closet, covering everything except for the door, which will be a solid security door, one that opens outward with those special pins securing the door to the hinges so you can't walk the door out after removing the hinges, set into a door frame made of square steel tubing
place this in an inconspicuous place in the house, in a room that also has a solid door frame and a security door
security cams and microphone with battery backup, that connects via a wire that runs down through a pipe disguised as a gas pipe, into the ground, and far away to a cellular device
this should prevent any localized cellular jamming attempts
nothing will prevent penetration forever but many layers of difficult to penetrate security should slow people down enough to make a difference

I like your idea. Get a vibrating saw at harbor fright and make that surgical cut in a corner where furniture is. Or have a house plant with a false bottom like hogan's heros had the water bucket.

I love nothing more than making hidey holes. I also made a drawer out of one of my steps.

cant i have a concrete floor

Dressers have a lot of empty space behind the drawers. If you remove the back panel you can hide a lot of stuff in there. Box springs and mattresses are also a classic. I like to hide my cash and small stuff inside shower and closet rods.

As a better than nothing, they can't just grab your goods like they could off of a shelf? Yes. As something to actually keep stuff secure? No, they get broken into on our jobsites if they have the time and they can't find anything just laying around.

The only safes really worth a shit to actually keeping people out vs trying to get them to weigh the time to benefit on breaking into it are prohibitively expensive for most people. Made of actual steel vs two layers of sheet metal and some foam.

Usual smart person method is bolt it down where it's not obviously a fun safe and fill the bottom with steel plate so it's too heavy to lift. If you're at all handy you can remove the handles.

The best weapon storage idea I've ever seen was my redneckbro building horizontal rifle storage into his wall. He covered that with a wooden shelf with a wooden back which was hinged invisibly. The shelf was filled with old VCR tapes but books would do since Americans don't read.

Instant access but no one in their right mind lifts a full shelf and leaning on it did nothing. Motherfricking brilliant.
