The best thing you can ACTUALLY do for your country is farming. There is currently a silent war being waged on classical farmers. Lobbyists for factory farming and the food industry are paying for assassinations and sabotage of farms that don't bend the knee to the corporate buyout of America's food supply. If we don't stand up now, there is going to be a famine within this decade. Grow some crops, and shoot any motherfucker who sneaks onto your land to fuck with them.
No one (at least those you're talking to here) has the capital for that. It's what? 750k-to 1m for the few hundred acres needed to start a farm? And don't say you only needed a couple acres. Those corporate buyouts aren't targeting farms small enough to just sustain themselves and nothing more. They're going for the 100 acre+ farms that produce enough to turn a profit.
I'm almost certain there are land giveaways/subsidies with the caveat that you have to cultivate the land and cannot sell it. Kind of like how they pay you to live in Alaska, but for farming in the middle of fucking nowhere.
I am also sure almost no one takes these because farming is a hard life and most farmers are already trying to stay above water without taking on adding responsibilities.

Tiborasaurus Rex has a great, in depth and informative long distance shooting tutorial available on YouTube. He goes into detail about weapon selection, ammo selection, ballistics, optics, scope mounting, optics adjustments everything.
A quality hunting rifle can be purchased for $1,000. A very capable scope can be also purchased for less than $1,000. The base, rings and scope mounting to your rifle is very easy to do yourself. If you are not confident in your abilities a good gunsmith will mount your scope to your rifle and bore sight it in one afternoon.
All Americans that wish to preserve and protect our Constitutional Republic should be able to engage targets with accurate rifle fire beyond 500 yards.
Add in a capable AR or AK pattern rifle, a 12 gauge shotgun and a semi auto pistol. Weapons and ammunition are proving to be as good an inflation hedge as anything else. Treat your weapons as the family heirlooms they will become. Also it is not wise to plan to resupply off of those you kill in the defense of your family and property. 500 rounds of pistol ammo and 1,000 rounds of long gun ammo in addition to what ammo you need to train with to maintain proficiency is a good base.
Now is the time to purchase the gear you need and train to become proficient with your weapon. The window of opportunity is closing and we are , if we are honest with ourselves, over due.

Anyone ever feel like they were meant ot die in a war or something? I was in the US Army, but was PoG MOS and didn't do much interesting stuff. I got out and bounced around between schools and jobs for awhile. Finally got a good job a house and stuff in my mid 30s. But everything feels so empyt and I'm just not interested or invested in much. Used to follow politics and current events closely, but just don't care anymore. Don't enjoy movies or vidya as much as I used too. Dating is hell and I don't think I want a family. I think in another time or place I would've killed in some war when I was younger and fitter and gung-ho about things and my family would remeber me as somebody who was involved in soemthing important. Now it's like nothing matters. Don't exactly want to go to Ukraine or anywhere anymore because I'm not even sure they'd take me these days and I do feel bound to some things like paying off my house and and doing stuff like fishing and camping with my nephew as he gets older.
Anyone understand these feels or am I alone here?

I’ve always had a weird fantasy of settling down in a war torn country and starting a family as an aged warrior. Lol. It’s pathetic but seriously.
I think that's a common fantasy for young guys because, even though it's different from movies and vidya, war is still adventurous and and dangerous and there's important things to care about like the lives of the people around you. Even working in a military hospital a long ways from any warzone I still had a guy fucked up by an IED almost die and it was pretty harrowing for a bit and keeping him alive is one of the few things in my life I'm actually proud of. And being a vet is one of the best ways to ensure that you get respect from your community. I just thought I'd outgrow it.
