It all depends on how you judge value. I've used PVS-7, dual and single PVS-14s, and GPNVGs while I was in (sadly the GPNVGs were in a fucking around capacity). The GPNVGs are very clear and give you a great field of view. But they're still fragile and $40,000. To me,
not worth it. But I also wouldn't buy a ferrarri, unless I had 8 figures in the bank, because it doesn't seem like it's worth it to me. I'd totally drive one, though. And if racing was my job, I'd be much more inclined to get one. Same for GPNVGs. If I had genuine proof that I'd have to be in combat at night in the near future and I could afford them, I'd get them. But if you gave me $45,000 and told me to get PVS-14s and ammo/plates/gear/better gun parts/whatever or GPNVGs, I'd go for the former.
No, they're heavy as fuck and are annoying to use.
Dual tubes are overall easier to use and don't fuck your neck up. The fov is nice, but not when you need to have them on your helmet for 8 hours.
GPNVGS are purpose built for dudes who's entire job is to break into someone's house at 2am with 3 mags and a radio and shoot the guy in the face before extracting out with a bag full of his hard drives. Their total time on target is like, 2-3 hours max.
For the average concerned citizen/milita/grunt, they aren't worth the cost or weight considering how they only really give you a slightly wider field of view. You're better off with a dual tube setup or a high spec pvs14.
Its better than nothing, but I would keep an eye on those 3d printed NVGs that are coming out these days, are much better and are pretty cost effective imo.
no
In a military setting / context
Still no. They'd be nice to have but if you're buying your own equipment then there are better things you could spend $30000 on.
in a military setting why isn't the gov providing me with quads? stfu
probably not for most military personnel.
Panos are for CQB raids only. Outdoors dual tubes is the meta and indoors it's 99% as good.
no they make you look like a huge dork

This. Unless cost is entirely a non-issue, your money could be better spent elsewhere

not unless you train neck six times a week
OP, don't listen to , they/them are a pussy. Quad nods aren't too bad. I have an average sized neck (picrel) and they're only a little heavy.
no, too heavy
You tell me.

Next question: Is digital NV good enough for a turbo poorfag?
Yes, if you're an impoverished teenage pothead a Sionyx is perfect for you.
For normal men a PVS14 is the designated justasgoodenough option.
Digital NV is worse than nothing. Buy a headlamp if you can't afford analog.

sure, if you fly EMT helicopters with all the equipment installed.
