Stronger to drive what exactly? Soldiers basically all carry the same load within their specific roles. Shorter levers are more mechanically efficient and as someone pointed out earlier less prone to injury from repeated impacts like rucking under heavy load or jumping out of planes. You're not going to be beating your enemies to death.

Tall men won't be able to fit in the exosuits without them being designed too big to fit through a door or maneuver indoors. Size is a hard limiter here and being able to go inside human buildings and use cover is mandatory.

good luck finding cover and doing exoskeleton manuvers

you forgot physics is a thing and bigger mass = bigger inertia

              >bigger mass = bigger inertia
This is bad because? You're doubling down on what people were already saying.
Taller soldiers with bigger exosuits will be significantly faster and be able to cover significantly more distance in a shorter amount of time (which is what actually matters on a futuristic battlefield)

                Anonymous

                Physics.

Imagine scaling skyscrapers as a 6’7 lanklet. The future battlefield is in skyscrapers so hardcore parkour is needed.

And you’re fricking moronic, I haven’t met someone who is 6’5 and could run fast. Usain Bolt isn’t an exception. If you play soccer, or any sport in general manlets are the best because they can run really fast in short bursts. Lanklet cope.

                Anonymous

                Don’t bother, Anon.
Manlets are insufferably insecure and have to retreat to various sci-fi/fantasy scenarios and imagined technical jargon in order to justify their existence.
                See

I read a scifi short story where everyone on earth genetically engineered themselves to be minimum size midgets to save on living space, food, etc. They were hunting down the last remaining giants (normal humans) on the planet trying to exterminate their wasteful kind forever. It was primarily a psychological thing, the tall humans couldn't be allowed to exist without the midgets feeling ridiculous.

What I'm trying to say here is that we need to be careful.

i think we could apply the combined arms team concept for future ground forces,

                essentially:

                - Main Battle Soldier = 5'8 manlet (not too tall, not too short, just right) for general infantry, and for the main battlefield.
                - Light Soldier = 5'5 manlet (trained to do backflips and parkour and can run really fast)
                - Heavy Duty Soldier = 6'7 BVLL for lifting heavy weapons and a larger exoskeleton, therefore more room for heavier payload

they will all work in tandem with each other, but Heavy soldiers will be less common, because the Main Battle Soldier fills in general purpose. Light soldier for reconnaissance and tunnel rat duties.

                Absolute cope.

                Anonymous

                holy cope

being tall and strong doesnt matter if the future battlefield has lasers with pinpoint accuracy, along with infantry mounted radar systems, manlets have a smaller radar cross signature and are more stealthier than lanklets

        Anonymous

        Here is your battlefield.
It is nothing but sinking mud, jagged rocks, ruined buildings, felled trees and barbed wire as far as the eye can see.

Half the time in battle you are either knee-deep in some soggy farmland, swamp, blown-to-bits forest or rubbled city-scape. You CAN NOT run it! There is no firm surface to place your foot on. You will not be zipping through it like some damn usain bolt.

The rest of the time you will be in some ditch, trench, behind sandbags in a FOB or you are inside some building. And you will always be wearing 40 pounds of weapons and equipment. Either way, you won't be skipping like fricking sonic the hedgehog.

Also there will be some motherfricker with a LMG or a sniper across that field. Being small and nible is the key in today's war.

          >watch footage from Ukraine
          >it's nothing like this
I don't care how war was waged 100+ years ago when we're talking about today's wars. 99% of what Ukrainian soldiers are doing is just fricking running around.

            Anonymous

No, Ukrainians are the ones doing the smart thing: digging in and hosing those muddy fields with LMG's. It's the russians who try to run across the fields, get stuck in mud and get shot to sieves or blown to pieces by mortars/artillery. Although admittedly their own moronic human wave doctrines are to blame for this.

Being a big, tall mofo or running around in the open just makes you an obvious target. Just look at the picture. How the frick are you going to run across that muddy field if there is a guy with a gun on the other side? You being Usain Bolt doesn't help one.

For most jobs in the military, 170-175 cm are optimal. Being larger usually comes with more drawbacks than benefits. You eat more, take up more space and the strength benefit is marginal. There are exceptions, but they are mostly with artillery crew and crew served organic weapons.

There never was a use for 185 cm soldiers other than parading them in front of some foreign diplomats or loading very big shells into artillery pieces.

Because they're quadrupeds and can spread that weight of a larger body over a greater area both internally and externally. Plus their anatomy is uniquely geared for heat dissipation which is a massive issue when your body gets that big

            >plus their anatomy is uniquely geared for heat dissipation which is a massive issue when your body gets that big
I doubt humans, the species with the best thermoregulation on earth will have an issue with this.
Also we've seen massive bipeds in the past, from a physics standpoint we could still get a lot taller than we currently are.

        Anonymous

to be fair, Wadlow couldn't feel pain anymore and thus died from a minor leg infection from his braces. If he or somebody noticed the leg infection sooner, he or someone else would be more self-aware of his health/surroundings and Wadlow could've lived a much longer life.

Also, Wadlow kept on growing throughout his entire life. By the time he would've lived to 30, he could've been 12 foot tall.

There would've come a point where his anatomy could no longer sustain that unending growth. At what point does it all collapse in on itself

yes, the pent-up resentment and rage makes them perfect killers and it's not a problem for anyone if they get killed either

why isn't the military doing it's best to recruit 7+ foot tall people? Why do they keep recruiting so many manlets?

Because being tall is a meme on the battlefield, this isn't a basketball game anon. Boldness, good strategy, accurate application of weapons, and strength of will are the factors that make good soldiers.

You're not going far enough. Imagine platoons of these frickers hiding in garbage cans, mailboxes and vietnam-style underground tunnel networks that your soldiers literally can never fit into. Imagine every helicopter dropping off 30 of these dudes rather than 8 normal guys. Imagine every jet and ship and tank needing half as much space allotted for crew. The tactical advantage is overwhelming.

along with exoskeletons, they can literally jump like fleas around the battlefield.

you can airdrop a whole battalion of them from a C130

But imagine how quickly they'd get overpowered by the 12 foot tall super soldiers wearing their spartan armor that can effortlessly defeat the manlet low energy weaponry. Sure, they can hide but they'll get blasted immediately the moment they fire a shot at the enemy.

              Anonymous

with an electronic warefare suite, they can swarm the 12 foot lanklet with ease because it disables the mobility of their spartan armor.

the manlets quickly manuver through the lanklet taking out the important components of the spartan armor, effectively disabling the enemy.

You've probably heard of the strange phenomenon that more males are born after wars. But did you know that the most likely explanation for that is height? Taller men are statistically both more likely to survive a war and to produce a male child

Did you even read the study? The methodology is so bad, it’s a mystery how the paper got published.
The author doesn’t account for socioeconomic factors, cause of death or time served, the sample isn’t even representative. High chance of spurious regression, bad paper.

Manlets are braver and make better soldiers than lanklets. Hence why so many didn't return, they were in the thick of it while lanklets hid and mumbled about female concerns. Many such cases

I did my mandatory service in my country. I did mine in our country's light infantry. We had a massive dude who was 198cm tall (whatever that is in burger units). He couldn't keep up when we did long marches (he would start first in the column but after a few hours would fall behind) and kept getting injured, he also had trouble with getting in and out of our vehicles. In the end, they told him he was too tall, they transferred him to some aircraft refueling job kek.

Most of the time. Having a corn-fed, 6'5 250 pound ogre on the squad can be beneficial at times, though.
    >According to eyewitness reports, Bleak rushed the trench and dove into it, tackling one Chinese soldier and breaking the man's neck with only his hands, killing him. Bleak was then confronted by a second soldier, whom he reportedly grabbed by the neck, fatally crushing his windpipe. A third Chinese soldier then approached, and in the ensuing scuffle, Bleak used his combat knife to kill him... As he attempted to withdraw with the wounded soldier, Bleak was confronted by two more Chinese. Putting down the soldier, Bleak reportedly surprised the Chinese soldiers by charging them and smashing their heads together with such force that he may have fractured the skulls of one or both of the assailants before pushing them out of his way.
