Are high optic mounts a meme?

I find no use for them at all. I couldn't even hit a target at 100yds with my t2 on one. Oh don't get me started on cqb holdovers.

they do a ton of work under night vision. i don't. so im not going to put the part on my gun that mostly makes it easier to use under night vision.

I find it far more comfortable, and faster to shoot with high mounts, and even shooting LPVO's prone its barely worse than a lower 1/3rd. The fact you are having issues means your suck, or your body is fricked

carry handles make no sense if you wanted a high mounted dot these days.
You're paying good money to add more weight and less flexibility, just so you can be a gun hipster.
      >carry handle + adapter 10+ oz
      >can only mount a dot
      >no mags
      >only niche benefit is having the back up sight which doesn't matter and ultimately could be had by using irons anyway

        >You're paying good money to add more weight and less flexibility, just so you can be a gun hipster.
Instead of buying an optic to put on the rail and then back up iron sights- because that's different, right?
        >can only mount a dot
You don't know about the original M16 scope do you kid
        >no mags
If you mean magnifier, see above- or get another upper. Silly boy, you know you can change those out, right?
        >only benefit-
Cut you off there; some things in like people like you cant appreciate. Go min-max yourself to a hugbox

          >buying something inarguably better is min-maxing
shut the frick up and be a contrarian somewhere else. You people are fricking nauseating to interact with, post your totally drip build to /r/guns and let everyone else who wants to shoot as opposed to taking pics for the gram talk instead.

            >mom I said 'contrarian' again !!
            >You people are fricking nauseating to interact with
Says the kid upset that people like to use A1 uppers primarily with the option to add an optic- instead of a long strip of rail that they need to fill out. Take your limitation of choice elsewhere, skipper

im gonna let you in on a little secret, homosexual: carry handle uppers don't weigh any more than railed uppers. but your skyscraper riser sure as hell does

          Anonymous

no they weigh like .5oz more than a flattop upper. and unity micro riser weighs 3oz. flattop with unity (or whatever) gives you way more options though.

thread hijack, are offset mounts a meme? I have no real use for one other than I want it.

Depends. If you're using a lt101 to get your optics higher and your mag closer so you don't have room for your rear irons then sure. If you're using a scope and you want to transition to x1 instead of raising it higher then sure.

        >using a scope and you want to transition to x1 instead of raising it higher then sure.
This. It's entirely for LARPing purposes it just seems fun.

If you're too nerdy to put up with your 3x mag hanging off the side, or just utilizing your magnifier's QD feature, flip to centers are good and only work with optics mounted on risers. Then there's passive aiming which I'm sure is used downrange sometimes, but I'd definitely more of a thing for turbo richgay nerds to get the most out of their kit as money will allow, and not hating, hosing shit while looking through an eotech under nods sounds like a good time too me.

1.93s are for people with IR lasers mounted at 12 O' Clock

Lower 1/3rd is best for everyone else, it makes it easier to estimate holdovers at varying distances and eliminates more sight to bore parallax.

I don't see any real benefit to a 1.93 or higher unless you have a laser device at 12 on your rail.

passive aiming with nods. It's hard to use a 1/3 optic thru a tube

1.93 is useful for cheek pistol memes. I have one on my TP9 and anything lower is awkward as shit when it's held that close to your face.
