Apparently, Iran's drones can't perform shit in bad weather and night conditions. Iran seeks Turkey’s assistance in locating president's crashed helicopter.

Turkish Air Force sends Akinci drone equipped with SAR radar and a modern EO system with night vision capability.

        Far from the sole reason.

Dardenelles for Black Sea access for one, keep them out of Russia's pocket for another, going to need them to liberate Georgia one day.
Probably need them for peacekeeping after Ivanishvili pushes people into a Euromaidan or to keep Russia from pulling a Belarus.
Then there's having NATO bases that close to Israel, can't put everything in Cyprus.
Their MIC is getting competitive so let's keep that in the club too.
Helps keep peace with Greece to have them both in NATO.
They're handy to interact with Arabs and know lots about terrorism.

That's not even all of it, they contribute in many, many ways but the largest is probably that it's just better to have them inside the tent pissing out than the alternative.
Yes, they piss inside a bit too but so long as they want their F16s and F4s modernised regularly, they can be leveraged when it really matters.

Man, if I had the money and #47 existed, there's half a dozen oligarchs/pseudo-dictators I'd contract that would immeasurably improve the state of the world.

The shooter was also a Russian sympathiser btw, his motive was apparently freedom of the press, more or less. Fico was going to take over the public broadcaster and the shooter was a writer/talking-head kind of guy.

He was conscious and lucid after surgery, at that point, you're probably going to live.

He was shot stomach, arms, and legs, if you don't die immediately and arrive at a hospital quickly enough, you're probably going to make it.
The main danger is bleeding out from the leg wound or abdominal sepsis from intestinal puncture. An ER will deal with the former very easily and the latter is a risk but intensive care and immediate surgery will probably prevent it.

I'd be pretty confident he's going to recover, probably somewhat quickly if there's no complications from the gutshot.

, as I see him as kind of confused right wing anarchist. He was seen at pro-EU/pro-Freedom of speech/pro-RTVS/anti-Fico rally, however he also gave speech for local "militia" and what I think is most substantial, he wrote this https://www.databazeknih.cz/prehled-knihy/efata-318489 , where he unironically makes apology for Breivik and demands genocide of Roma people (least racist Slovak).
Just quick recap, Fico got elected on the premise of less support for Ukraine, however he almost immediately switched. He also tried to make RTVS (independent national television, kinda like BBC tv-loicense model, into state funded and controlled one). He is also corrupt fat frick, but what is worst, I actually think he will survive and this will help him, his people are already trying to purge opposition for this.

Like, I would honestly believe that this is some sort of inside job (I mean, Mečiar, Slovak PM in the 90s, has kidnapped presidents son using secret service, leading to president resigning, which led to Mečiar getting presidential powers and he gave himself and secret service people presidential pardon. THIS GUY THEN GOT 42.7% IN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS, THINK ABOUT IT).
However, I also learned to never underestimate government incompetence and human moronation, and I thus believe that this assassin was confused and unlucky, but also sincere.

No, when you're the president in a country like that, you just tell your pilot to go and they go.
This would never happen in USA because the airforce would definitely know where Marine One was at all times and the airforce would probably refuse an order from secret service to not document their flight but in an autocratic country, you do what you're told and frick procedures.

They made a military grade version of Walter White's remote machine gun

It was a custom built CROWS operated by satellite uplink with some sort of AI target tracking to compensate for lag.
There are no good pictures of the weapon or vehicle used because it also had a demo charge and blew the frick up once the kill was confirmed.

Israeli sources said it was similar to a Escribano Sentinel 20 but custom built from a FN MAG and smuggled into Iran.

Officially there were no Mossad on scene, it was supposedly handled by Iranian criminal elements.

I still don't understand why Iran even has a President when the President wields so little power, why not just get rid of the position and have the Supreme Leader handle it?

The Supreme Leader must remain infallible so the position of President is to draw negative attention and heat towards the President and serve as a scapegoat while the Supreme Leader reaps the rewards of anything positive that the President does.

I'm not well-informed on it but I think the idea was that the president (in theory) provides a check of sorts on the Supreme Leader. Like, being popularly elected, they come from "outside" or from below, but I don't think that was the reality. The Iranian president has more power than a president does in a parliamentary system (where they're almost entirely ceremonial in a lot of cases) but much less so than in a presidential system.

The catch here is that the foreign minister also ate it, and Raisi was rumored to be a likely successor to Khamenei as supreme leader (who is 85). This all great news of course for Iranian diaspora who are posting memes and TikToks celebrating and drinking alcohol.

        >This all great news of course for Iranian diaspora who are posting memes and TikToks celebrating and drinking alcohol
My diaspora friends, they all call themselves Persians, say that everyone drinks in Iran too, alcohol is cheaper in Iran than outside because it's smuggled in on mules and sold without tax. JWBL is the preferred booze just like Hitchens says.

Terrorism is non-state political actors using political violence to affect or change the politics of a given country or government, usually its own government. It isn't setting off bombs. Hope this helps.

I don't know how the frick you say that after the demonstration they did in Israel with their oldest weapons.

    >Iran seeks Turkey’s assistance in locating president's crashed helicopter.
The fact that you don't understand the geopolitical implications here is astounding.

They asked Turkey to assist in investigating the assassinated leader of their country, for two reasons:
    >1. The crash is on the Azeri border, and crossing the border might be considered a hostile act, as it interferes with Turkish sphere of influence.
    >2. Because the results Turkey produces will be unimpeachable by NATO and the UN, and will sway the Turkish and Azeri public even further toward Iran.
Not because Iran can't find a guy at night, if that was even the case (it's not, the attack on israel was wholly at night) they could just wait for dawn a few hours away.

This is the level of propaganda that works on reddit and /k/.
