Anyone else move from the city to a more?

Anyone else move from the city to a more PrepHole place? I just relocated from Chicago to the blue ridge mountains. There were many reasons for the move but I just love that I can go to picrel for a quick hike after work.

Understandable. In that case, welcome. Hiking is awesome here. I’m in KY near Tennessee surrounded by hills. Lots of hiking and it’s the best time for it.

I would like to. I live in central FL and it sucks ass. All we do is contribute to the rat. I desperately want to move to the keys or the southern florida region to go out fishing near reefs and in the mangroves. I have a good deal saved up so in anotger year I'll see if I can afford it.

Yes. I moved from Melbourne in Australia to a tiny alpine town with less than 40 people by accident ~5 years ago and I'm still here. Got a farming job within two days and went from not knowing how to drive a manual car to daily driving a tractor with 39 gears. Not seeing a cow up close to fisting them and pulling out calves. Ask me anything anon

How did you accidentally move to a 40 person town.

fyi I'm from central vic and moved to melbourne for study, ten years later I'm starting to feel the draw away from the city. Not that I have any kids on the horizon but I would never raise them here

I lived in Melbourne for ~15 years and got trapped in a toxic relationship like a fool. My belongings got whittled down more and more to the point where everything fit in a backpack and a big plastic tote. My auntie died and left me an offensive old yellow Saab 9-3 convertible in her will, and I struggled to find street parking in Essendon for a few months before putting the tote in the tiny boot and driving off into the sunset one day. I went north and east for a few days and bought a cheap caravan for ~2k. I didn't have a tow hitch but the local mechanic was a Saab nut and just had one laying around. I fixed it up and lived in a caravan park for 1.5 years. Bounced from there to a huge old Adams Family farmhouse with a bat colony in the ceiling to my current house which is an 1860's-ish single bedroom miners cottage

      do you regret it?

Hell no. I make less money and work more hours, but it's the first time I've lived alone. Like from the ages of 17-30 I always had housemates or lived with partners, but now I'm in my own space with simple things like matching cutlery and appliances without weird multi-coloured cute-animal themed shit. The Saab lives in the garage and I bought a 4WD single cab Hilux for cash. I own multiple kayaks and have them hanging off the side of the garage and have a river across the street to throw them in.

Not my personal blog but no, I don't regret it at all. Life gets very lonely but I have old friends and family come out of the woodwork and suddenly want to stay with me for weeks at a time for the wildlife and scenery and snow

Work tho. The local store had an ad posted for "Farmhand wanted" that I called, and the next day I was drinking coffee with some old wizard and his wife at their house. "Can you milk cows?" Never tried but I'll give it a go. "What tractors have you driven?" None, but show me the ropes. "Do you have a heavy rigid license and can you drive a 1973 ACCO International..." just give me the keys. Old mate has no kids to keep running the family farm and I've just fallen into the slot, but it's a $35 an hour slot that I don't complain about

Victoria in Australia. My experience with old people is kind of the opposite. My friends are all old. All the kids grow up and move to the city. My fleabags are old. All the machines are old. I just turned 35 and spent it alone by the fire because my best mates are either dead or married with wives and grandchildren

35 an hour goes alright in a small town for sure, when there's less things to buy as well it helps.
