anybody got laser eye surgery?

my vision is pretty shit, -4 diopters. pretty much need to wear glasses to be able to function daily. i dont like having to depend on them when im out, they fog up, they break, they fall off

hell, i cant even wear any old pair of swim goggles i need a special pair with my prescription on it and i think really annoying

did some research on laser eye surgery, different procedures like SMILE or LASIK seem to give people good results. money isnt a problem i can afford it but ive read some nasty stories about people getting a botched surgery, having terminal eye pain or swelling. some of these cases caused patient to end up suiciding because of the pain

anyone here have experiences with laser eye surgery? how did it go?

My sister got LASIK a few years ago and she says it worked great for her. My mom got it in the early 2000s and she said it fricked up her night vision and she can't see at night anymore. Personally, I just wear my glasses with a necklace so I can take them off if they're bothering me, but they're still nearby. My vision isn't as fricked as yours though, coomer.

Contact lenses work best for me. I wear one-day Biotrue contacts (find them to be the most comfortable for me), and when I'm PrepHole I'll bring one pair a day with backup glasses in case I lose any. It takes a bit of practice to put them in without a mirror but its pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

Oh yeah there also also contacts you can wear and sleep with for multiple days, which could be a perfect solution, but I havent tried those.

I've tried them before, wasn't really a fan... Woke up and felt like I'd just slept in regular contacts. Never wore them for more than a couple of days. Now I just wear regular contacts when PrepHole

I've had glasses since I was, what, eleven? I'm pretty nearsighted, not extremely, but I don't drive without my glasses for example.

I have an old pair as backup, they are from when I got hit by a car, so one glass is spiderwebbed and there's still blood in cracks, but a backup is a backup
If I'm canoing i tie some fishing line from the glasses to the neck tag of my shirt

Get a sturdy case, once broke a pair rolling over in my small tent crushing the case

What's this have to do with PrepHole?

Jamming your dirty fingers in your eyeballs to put in contacts while out is gross and dangerous.

I always use hand sanitiser plus a little water to clean my hands before putting them in - never had any issues. Then again, I'm wearing gloves for the most part when PrepHole

      Yup. It's a nu-PrepHole thread.

Lense replacement surgery is the GOAT. You don't want people to get something wrong with your retinas. There's no second chances there.

you can fix myopia. basically just look at shit far away and try to make the image look clearer. you need a lot of vitamins in your diet too so dont slack. eat eyeballs if you can stomach it. my eyes were pretty shit and though im still myopic, i can see things more or less when im outside. when i went to the optometrist a couple years back they were stunned as to why my vision got better. i havent worn glasses or anything in years. they actually tire your eyes and make your vision worse because they cause celiary spasms or some shit. its like being in a wheelchair, eventually your muscles will degenerate into norhingness. blue light filters for phones are good too

    that's fricking nothing dude
mine was almost 10 diopters of near-sightedness
I got LASIK over 15 years ago, had some dry eye for a few months that was helped by eye drops.
It depends on how bad your vision is and if you have things like astigmatism (I do).
I don't wear glasses now but my night vision is not the best due to astigmatism. That doesn't really affect daytime hiking at all though and yeah I haven't had an issue swimming since.

I was at high risk of complications due to having a thin corneal flap but it turned out ok.
If you can afford it, do it.
