      >unable to defend it
anon come now, surely you know more about the Spanish conquest than that
the Spanish played every trick in the book, by the time their armies showed up, they had already subverted most empires in the region and set them against one another.

The vast, vast majority of the killing was done by disease or by native peoples coerced by the Spanish into killing their rivals on the other side of the mountains. Once all sides were war-exhausted and unable to put up much resistance, the Spanish came in and wiped the rest out.

I can admire their tactics from a purely psychopathic "well shit, that was a very effective if cruel play" perspective, but the Spanish deserve no credit at all as military conquerors. They just don't, they were subversive little rats.

That's one of the (unintentional) dirty tricks, yes
though while it started off as an unintentional thing, they did also definitely intentionally spread contagion later, hence why I would not consider that an unfortunate accident but rather an unexpected situation they were willing to amorally exploit for profit.

They fought many battles with the natives while they had a severe numerical disadvantage. The native rivals thought they were more useful against the Aztecs so they made an alliance with one another. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement, not subversive in the least. But I guess it doesn't matter when the natives do it.

Romans were definitely not clean. That’s just an idealised myth about Rome.

        > While the baths were enjoyed by almost every Roman, some criticized them. The water was not renewed often and the remains of oil, dirt or even excrement were kept warm, providing a milieu for bacteria.[4] The emperor Marcus Aurelius complained about the dirtiness.[5] Celsus,[6] while commending its therapeutic virtues, warns not to go with a fresh wound because of the risk of gangrene. In fact, several tombstones from across the empire claim: balnea vina Venus / corrumpunt corpora / nostra se<t> vitam faciunt / balnea vina Venus ("Baths, wine, and sex corrupt our bodies, but baths, wine, and sex make life worth living")

Answer right here. Europeans had cows, pigs, chickens, horses, etc. South Americans had at most the llama. No wonder European cities were dirtier. This is also why they killed most new worlders with diseases but the opposite didn't happen.

Llamas weren't really relevant for central American civilizations, the two major domesticated animals there were turkeys and dogs. Though the famous Aztec zoo had eagles, jaguars, snakes, wading birds, deer, and something that sounds an awful lot like a bison.

Europeans never bathed, never wiped their asses, and never cleaned their teeth. Or even opened windows at night. They were afraid of spirits that would enter their bodies and poison them while they did such activities. Native American accounts of Europeans described the smell similar to that of rotting meat and feces. These peoples later died off from diseases that never before existed in the Americas, brought to them by the filthy Europeans on their clothing, blankets. When Europeans arrived in Asia, the Chinese officials demanded that they take a bath before entering the palaces.

This is a pretty common historical myth, in reality most people of the world not just Europeans knew they preferred to be clean hence why every culture developed an ability to keep themselves cleanly - the Roman Empire alone sponsored massive public baths and this tradition continued even after they fell. It's a Hollywood creation that somehow everyone in Europe was dirty.

      >Why were the Europeans so filthy?
They weren’t, at least in functioning cities.
Most cities with canals used cess pits instead of dumping excrement in the canals, and the cess pits were inspected, with owners fined if the cess pits became too full, or had other issues causing leakage.
Workers were hired at a fixed rate to empty cess pits onto barges, with fines if any excrement spilled.
There are records of the laws concerning this, and citizens who were fined, etc.

lol where did you read this, moron? That's not what happened.

What happened is that the Aztec Emperor (not King), was freaked out by reports of the Spaniards using guns and horses and rightfully realized they had superior technology. So he tried to be nice and invited them to the capital, basically surrendered his empire because he knew he was outmatched. Spaniards proceeded to steal gold, and stop their religious sacrifices, the Aztecs revolted and drove the Spaniards away from the capital.

So the Spaniards reorganized their forces, called for reinforcements and forged an alliance with the Tlaxcalans (rivals of the Aztecs) to bring them down. Meanwhile smallpox was ravaging the Aztec capital which also made things easier for Cortez.

            >Cortez and his men did not show any aggression
            Bullshit.

First of all, the Spaniards had already conquered Cuba, and much of the Caribbean, then they carried out an expedition to Yucatan where they battled the Mayans, and Cortez himself battled the Mayas at Potonchan, as well as Aztec tributaries at Totonac. He fought the Totonac and encouraged them to revolt against the Aztecs taking the leaders loyal to the Aztecs prisioners. Then he also carried out a demonstration of firearms for Montezuma himself. So the Aztecs were well-aware of the Spanish and their technological superiority.

            >the Aztec king gambled all his gold in a game

Cortez and his men showed an amount of aggression quite appropriate to the amount they were first shown themselves.

What makes it more barbaric than the mass murders commited by so-called civilized peoples?

As Victor Hugo said, "The amount of civilization is measured by the quantity of imagination."
If you can't imagine why it is profane to consume deceased corpses of your own species, you're living among the most barbaric societies humans are capable of producing.

Was literally no need, every single tribe they liberated from the Aztecs (who went on to help them fight the Aztecs, so don't even pretend it wasn't a liberation) gifted them dozens of women every visit. Women who were more than happy to consume potent white seed, as their customs dictated that for a people to grow close they should make offspring with each other.

Until the betrayal by the Aztecs, the Spaniards literally only fought if forced, they had almost no supplies and each fight was a tremendous risk they wanted to avoid at all costs.

                >Sometimes also Motecusuma played at a certain game with Cortes, which the Mexicans call the game of totoloc: it is played with small round glossy balls, which here were made of gold, and are pitched at a certain mark, also of the same metal: five throws finished the game, and the stakes were for valuable gold trinkets and israeliteels. I still remember once when Motecusuma and Cortes were playing at this game, Alvarado scoring for Cortes, and a distinguished cazique (his nephew) for the monarch, that Alvarado continually scored one too many for Cortes. This was observed by Motecusuma, who said, with a pleasing smile, that he was not exactly pleased when Tonatio (so they termed Alvarado) marked the game for Cortes, for he was guilty of Ixoxol in scoring, which means that he scored falsely, by continually marking one more than he ought.
Cortes, and we others who happened to be on duty at the time in the apartment, could not resist laughing at the observation of the monarch. And why, it will be asked, did we find that expression so amusing? Because Alvarado, notwithstanding the handsome and refined man he was, could not resist the temptation of scoring falsely, and had been discovered. However, all the gain was divided among those present; for what Cortes won he presented to the monarch's nephew and his servants; Motecusuma dividing his gains among those who happened to be on duty at the time.[70] And not a day passed that he did not present Velasquez de Leon, who was very kind to him, and was captain of the guard, and those who were on duty, with valuable gold trinkets and manufactured stuffs.

The Spaniards then made him prisioner and proceeded to loot the capital and ban sacrifices which made the Aztecs revolt.

The revolt was mostly caused by rival heirs to Montezumas throne who saw his confinement as a testament to his weakness and because through their sacrifices their gods had told them to attack and kill the Spaniards and they would win.
                >decided to invite them to their capital because he realized their technological superiority.
he wanted to kill and capture them, he only "invited" them in as it became clear the other options weren't possible.
                >The Spaniards then made him prisoner
in self defense, as while they were staying there it became clear they were going to be attacked. He agreed to go with them as a sign of good faith, his own people then killed him and revolted.

You kid, but the Aztecs really were far behind in technology for such a large empire. When the spanish came for them they were just starting on making blades out of bronze, but mostly their weapons were made of wood and volcanic glass, their armor were usually just animal hide, but the most "advanced" armor they had was a shirt made of braided cotton that was then soaked in brine and left to dry, the subsquent salt crystals forming on the cotton making the shirt somewhat hard to cut.

Just read the Conquest of New Spain by Diaz, absolutely insane what transpired.
My favorite part was how every single tribe they met ended up gifting all their daughters and sisters to Cortez, so many that he ended up having to give them away to his troops.

Yes, many conquistadors had practically become polygamists with all the noblemen's wives they were being offered.

    >Every day they sacrificed before our eyes three, four or five Indians, whose hearts were offered to those idols whose blood was plastered on the walls. The feet, arms, and legs of their victims were cut off and eaten, just as we eat beef from the butcher’s in our country. I even believe that they sold it in the tianguez or markets.

    >I cannot omit to mention the cages of stout wooden bars that we found in the city, full of men and boys who were being fattened for the sacrifice at which their flesh would be eaten. We destroyed these cages, and Cortes ordered the prisoners who were confined in them to return to their native districts.

    >They strike open the wretched Indian’s chest with flint knives and hastily tear out the palpitating heart which, with the blood, they present to the idols in whose name they have performed the sacrifice. Then they cut off the arms, thighs, and head, eating the arms and thighs at their ceremonial banquets. The head they hang up on a beam, and the body of the sacrificed man is not eaten but given to the beasts of pre. They also had many vipers in this accursed house, and poisonous snakes which have something that sounds like a bell in their tails. These, which are the deadliest snakes of all, they kept in jars and great pottery vessels full of feathers, in which they laid their eggs and reared their young. They were fed on the bodies of sacrificed Indians and the flesh of the dogs that they bred.

      >Then after they had danced the Papas laid them down on their backs on some narrow stones of sacrifice and, cutting open their chests, drew out their palpitating hearts which they offered to the idols before them. Then they kicked the bodies down the steps, and the Indian butchers who were waiting below cut off their arms and legs and flayed their faces, which they afterwards prepared like glove leather, with their beards on, and kept for their drunken festivals. Then they ate their flesh with a sauce of peppers and tomatoes. They sacrificed all our men in this way, eating their legs and arms, offering their hearts and blood to their idols as I have said, and throwing their trunks and entrails to the lions and tigers and serpents that they kept in the wild-beast houses I have described in an earlier chapter.

The point is that no healthy or noble civilization would produce such beliefs in their mythology. They deserved to be wiped out, rather easily as I'm sure you know by a few thousand Spaniards and like 40 horses.

Sure, but if you accept that you'll also accept how abhorrent those practices are to anyone who is civilized, and on encountering such backwards and moronic nonsense, the Spaniards had not only the right, but the duty to exterminate that barbarism wherever they encountered it.
The gold and slavery that followed was rightful compensation.

Mesoamericans were the real white people. Europeans invaders are just mutt bred Black homunculi that had to stew amongst themselves so long to accumulate the maximum amount of disgusting diseases they could. Then when they came into the new world, when they were slaughtered en masse by the sheer prowess of the Warriors of Huitzilopochtli, the toxic slop that made up their insides infested the land... This is why all that live there now are brown goblin folk. They've been mutated beyond repair into horrible monsters. Less than human.

"In addition to the extraction of the heart, there were other forms of sacrifice that were applied in strict accordance with the Aztec calendar: beheading, falling from a temple, arrow shooting, confinement in caves, drowning, roasting and "rayamiento" (ritual fight)."

They were undoubtedly great... they were escaped slaves from the Chichimecas and they faced tribes more brutal than them and built a city in the middle of a lake, all of that in 200 years...
You can talk about morality and savagery, but the tribes they faced were worse... the Aztecs ate humans for ritual reasons, the enemies of the Aztecs and allies of the Spanish ate humans because they liked the taste, kek even the Spanish allowed the cannibalism of their indigenous allies.
there is a quote from a Spanish "conquistador" indulging the cannibal appetite of the Tlaxcalans after taking the city of Tenochtitlan

As if this could have existed in the 1600s without leaving a single trace. It's fanfic.

How were they conquered if they were so advanced?

European diseases that they had no resistance to
Spanish made alliances with their enemies and overthrew them

Why didn't the Europeans die to diseases they had no resistances to?

Europeans already built up resistance to most basic diseases due to living around livestock for thousands of years. Native's largely avoided large animals so they never had any opportunity to. There are theories that syphilis is an New World disease that did get brought back to Europe

Do you believe that architectural and societal organization necessitates the invention of steel armor and weaponry, let alone explosives? Do you believe that horse cavalry magically appears in places with no native and ancient history of equestrian domestication?

Do you believe that such advancements simultaneously necessitate the creation of magical cures to diseases that destroyed populations of Europeans for centuries? Do you, for instance, believe that ancient Greece, Rome, or Egypt could have stood a snowball's chance against conquistadores?

Are you an even remotely serious human being?

relax reddit spacer, if the aztecs weren't such savage fricking animals the spaniards wouldn't have had so many allies and probably would've been thrown back

Playing as the plains indians and beating euro armies to get horses/guns, to then attack Aztecs with was fun

nah, they got raped by arabs before, they arent pure nor White in the first place

Not very thoroughly, the demographic weight of Visigothic spain still largely outweighed them (kinda like in Persia)

If Aztecs were real where are the cities and giant stone structures? They're all over the place in greece and egypt
Aztecs have nothing but a couple pyramids, obviously placed there by aliens and Aztecs were created as an explanation by historians

You can see them in Mexico City. You can climb around the old pyramid- it was mostly dismantled by the Spaniards but the base is still there. You can see other pyramids around the city. You can go to the history museum in Mexico City and see the relics. Jesus, what a chud.

they literally built a floating city in the center of a lake in just 200 years... It is probably one of the most documented civilizations that exist

The Spanish destroyed the pyramids together with the indigenous allies... Also the Spanish let the indigenous allies eat the Aztecs after destroying the city... I suppose the conquistadors were amused by cannibalism.
Keep in mind that the Spanish took over and built on Tenochtitlan for 300 years, making it the capital of "Nueva Espana" akka Mexico, and they never intended to preserve Aztec buildings.
If you want to see the remains of Tenochtitlan, just travel to the capital of Mexico, the entire city is built on top of Tenochtitlan, you can still see some of the remains of the Aztec constructions...
