It's just too underpowered for its cost. You get roughly the same result with cheaper drones, and you have more powerful stuff at similar price points.
US private drone development has been hampered by the lack of a common requirement guidebook. As I recall from an older thread, there is one now (can't remember the name), but it got adopted after Switchblade development was complete.
Switchblade is more than 10 years old, it was well ahead of it's time but it's living at the speed of consumer electronics so will fall behind fast. It's like trying to use an iphone 4 today.
Being old doesn't matter that much. There are loads of old-ass systems that still work very well.
Its biggest issue is the extremely limited performance compared to its cost. A 300 costs $58k for the drone/launcher + $30k for the control unit. $88k buys a lot of Steam Decks and commercial drones (plus the recycled AGL warheads to arm them) nowadays.
justify to me why I would pay $6,000 for an inferior fixed wing style of drone when you can produce a better yielding payload with minimal modification using consumer drones for less than half of that.
the switchblade program is outdated and FPV quads are the future.
>$6,000
That number is missing a 0. Yes, it really is that expensive. No wonder nobody wants it, especially that shrimpy 300.
>inferior fixed wing
Gliding drones have better loiter time with lower power requirements compared to quadcopters. Helidrones (which quadcopters are a subvariant of) require continuous power to remain airborne. Whereas, with fixed wings, you can do cheeky things like engine-off gliding.
the 300 has a 10KM range and 20 minute loiter time. this is unironically mogged by off the shelf DJI quads

Well, yes, because it's an old PoS. Worse, it's an unreasonably expensive old PoS.
You could design a modern glider, using off-the-shelf parts, that has 1.5 hours loiter and 50+ km range (so, basically, 5x the performance), for something like half the price of a 300. And, for that money, it would likely be hardened against jamming as well.
Both versions are total shit. Thank God for Ukraine war, or they'd spent billions on them instead of simply cloning Dji Mavics. Although, seeing how the army procurement is going, the will end up cloning Dji Mavics, that will perform worse, and be a hundred times more expensive.

It seems that the technology itself is sound, it's just that the cost is way too much.
How long until we see a Chinese or Turkish switchblade knock-off being sold to every third world war zone?
>isreal evacuating garden gnomes prewar and refugees not leaving ukraine after the ear started because they aren't allowed to is the same as muzzie gangs in my hometown
How though? I want you to explain it to me
Nah it's still there, it's just behind the gun, the footage was cut so it can't be seen for propaganda reasons.
You just know it's in Bongland because of the yellow UK blank firing attachments

It's either idiots, or mockery of the american obssesion about being "white", when their % of brown people is highter than any euro country, nevermind that most people in Europe could trace their ancestry to the fucking roman empire if we had the records.

= No more 300s needed beyond existing stock, which is ~6000 even after donating ~1000 to Ukraine.
This is in line with the statement that it has "satisfied the Department of Defense fielding and replenishment requirements," I would not be surprised if half or more of the remaining 6000 were shoved over to special operations & CIA like a lot of ground attack drones were after Iraq.

keep in mind Switchblade was a private offering, total cost is <$200 million for 300s over the entire lifespan of the program and it all of it has been spent on units the military already used, transferred for use, or has in stock
Switchblade 600 got some R&D money/low quantity rapid procurement, but that's still only 26 million, not billions

the lack of footage wasn't because of "muh secret usage" but because they suck ass and FPV drones are 100 times cheaper and easier to use
Another piece of American tech that was hyped up as a war winner despite no evidence it was
Also remember all the lack of footage cope
Switch 300 has a pathetic warhead because muh collateral damage. Switch 600 may or may not have been good.
The 600 exists in minuscule quantities, and, similar to the 300, is very expensive for what it does.
Although the warhead is beefier, at least.
They never sent very many to begin with
