Eisenhower warned us how long ago and in how plain terms that the MIC was a cancer on the country?
Dunno what you'd even do about it now. There's so much money in politics it's just unreal.
>Eisenhower warned us how long ago and in how plain terms that the MIC was a cancer on the country
No he didn't.
>Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense.
>Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.[1]
Literally "we need this, but keep it in check" platitudes
The entirety of Eisenhower's farewell address is eerily prescient. And the next quote everyone leaves out.
>in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.
>public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.
But literally opposite happen.
>We can't arm America, which is too chickenshit to fight Russia directly, and the country that's actually fighting them at the same time!
I don't get this argument. We're clearly not going to fight Russia anytime soon and this shitshow has probably put China off of Taiwan for at least ten years. There's nothing to worry about if we're understocked for a couple years.
> and this shitshow has probably put China off of Taiwan for at least ten years
And what if it hasnt?
Then we are fricked. And even if it has, we are still fricked. The longer we wait the stronger China gets. We need them to frick up sooner rather than later.
China is about to face a huge population crisis. They've got a few decades at most before they've got more old people to support than young people supporting them. That's not a problem they can fix by stealing tech and ripping off westerners like they usually do.
>China is about to face a huge population crisis. They've got a few decades at most before they've got more old people to support than young people supporting them. That's not a problem they can fix by stealing tech and ripping off westerners like they usually do.
<how China solves this
Imagine the shitshow of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, now with the catch that there is a sea in the middle. How well did the Odessa landings go?
He already walked it all back.
>name literally tranlates to Carlos of the bull
Yep, I thought something smelt bad
Is he the bull you let frick your wife?
>is on /k/
>hates MIC
what?
Board has been flooded by shills from all sides for the past few days.
fat overweight over aged frick way overdue to be put out to pasture
>Please, gib money!
I like how it's the navy that saying this.
There’s a lot of commonality between missile components. Didn’t read what he said to be honest, but from a Navy perspective, the argument could be made that an MIC focused on replenishing land based missile stock for Ukraine diverts needed components to maintain naval missile stock. That’s assuming that industry is in fact not capable of producing stock for the US and Ukraine like he suggests.
Lol no there isn’t. Nothing in the HIMARS gmlrs goes into any of the sea based systems
The Navy has their own army
No, he's absolutely right.
And it's just a small part of a world-wide problem with industries right now - where some of the suits at the top would take deliberately counterproductive decisions for the sake of short-term gains. Not meeting demand, not putting any funds into innovation, pumping prices or cutting spending until all clients move away and the company suddenly fails "for not reason", investing company funds into black holes (e.g. Chinese companies investing in Chinese real estate).
>we're definitely failing
>WE NEED MORE MONEY
Only non-Americans believe these sorts of articles which makes it so much funnier
Let's pump the defense budget to $1 trillion and make it so the airforce is bound by law to bomb Serbia with each year's surplus
I am a moderate and I think this is an excellent idea.
>Carlos Del Toro
US high command should be Anglo-Celts and high achieving blacks until 2050 at least
>blames MIC
>sucks off lockheed's ceo
Wat
he doesn't blame the MIC, he blames society and short-sighted politicians
>we need more production
>HURR DURR MIC MIC DURR
why does this thread smell like vatnik glowie?
