M9s were still pretty new at that point so they didn't make to all the units that deployed. Some soldiers got stuck with old and busted M1911s according to some old timers that were part of O:DS.

Because the Soviets dumped their old shit in 3rd worlders.
And saddam liked having a big army so more tanks the better even if they're from the Jurassic period.

Good enough for all their regional foes & damn good enough to project power internally. to an unarmed goatherder, a tank is a tank.

No, its been a thing since the 80s on the Iowas. Before that they used floatplanes.

Battleships were the pioneers of the method. Don't care what those homosexual Burke captains with their yearly losses to cargo ships think, Iowa at her peak with her targeting drones would still wreck their little tin boats in an exchange.

The USAF had remote-operated recon/strike drones with TV cameras at least as far back as 1972.

There can not have been a battle where the Iowa class was the oldest piece of military equipment.
And that is because in every war that involves the US since WW2, they have used the M2 Browning.

Basic mortars predate the M2. Bayonets predate mortars. Both techs used then.
