Anatomical Boots and Lasts

My feet are hard to fit for boots, so I am looking for footwear that typically is more anatomical (wide toe) with a narrow heel to prevent slip, which I have issues with due to a narrower heel. I hear pic related are good, but don't know if they are really built on a Munson last or not. I don't really like barefoot boots because I need something to protect my feet more, but I want to look half decent in them. Problem is, I DO wear barefoot SHOES, and my forefoot is wide with a narrow-ish heel.

I hear Munson lasts are good for people with this kind of foot, but it seems like few, if any, people make them. Looking for good boot recommendations that have a genuine Munson last but aren't moccasins.

Anyone here wear Corcoran Brown Jump Boots? Not trying to be a parachutist, but I really like the way they look, and it seems like they would be good for light duty stuff and the home and workshop.

Any recommendations on sizing and experience, or at least some other Munson last suggestions that can fit feet like mine? Not married to any single boot brand or model.

Don't get high cut boots. Pain in the ass to put your foot in and lace up everyday. Just go to a boot store and let them do the work for you until you figure out what fits. You may need extra wides which might be a special order.

Boot stores are staffed by teenage idiots and fat old women paid minimum wage who have no idea what a last is. I'd rather be fitted and recc'd a boot by a PrepHole zoomer.

Find a boot fitter/cobbler. They exist in skiing areas for ski boots they may be able to customize regular cold weather boots too.

What the hell is a boot fitter? Also the only cobblers around me are old black dudes in the city I'd need to drive to that can barely repair a leather belt.

Boot fitter is a profession up north around ski areas. Guys are basically orthopedic biomedical craftsmen who measure your feet and then build out the sole, inline of the boot to fit your foot.

Where are you regionally? If you're not near skiing resort areas you could find a boot fitter nearby lumber areas like the other anon mentioned.

                Great Lakes.

Unironically post pic of foot in socks. I have a similar issue with wide toe box area being needed. I love my Jim green rangers made in south Africa. They also offer a taller boot now in the same last about $160-$210 I think. I also replaced the insole with a Finnish one from varusteleka one size up from the shoe.

I tried some Razorbacks and the toe space isn't bad, but I get heel slip, unfortunately...

I'll keep my eyes peeled on Google. Until then, I'm interested in other boot options that aren't the Northwest custom memes.

                >I'm interested in other boot options that aren't the Northwest custom memes.
What's wrong with those? Nick's, Frank's, and White's all kick ass. Nick's will fit you remotely.

Have you ever worn them? They have a massive amount of leather in the arch and a huge heel.

NTA, but I have two pairs of hot shots and they kick ass. Extremely comfortable. The high heel looks strange but it is extremely ergonomic, at least for my feet. And like the other anon mentioned you can order them however you like.

A high heel is one of the least ergonomic options in the shoe industry.

Hmm interesting, I just have wide feet overall so I don't experience heel slip much. It seems like you have some real flippers. You could attempt trying out Lems "boots" in the meantime. If not then go to whites boot, nicks boot, jk boot, or one of the offshoots that have been popping up and get a custom boot fitment. Unfortunately they mostly focus on loggers and such but I don't really know what you need.

They aren't crazy, but that's why I like the Munson last. I read Munson's book from 1912 about The Soldier and The Army Shoe about how the ideal boot has a wide toe, anatomical forefoot, no arch support so the muscles can work normally while marching, and a narrow heel to prevent slippage. It was an amazing book, and it shows how we truly haven't learned anything, we just keep going down the same pathway again and again of boots and shoes that destroy the human foot rather than enhance and protect it.

Sure, but I would be more interested in what people with more experience have to say in regards to actual uses like marching, rucking, etc.

I jump between out and k for boot advice, mostly out, but I don't doubt there are a ton of people who jump between all of the boot threads on a couple boards
A few more suggestions are redwings and a Carolina made in usa boot. I'm 10.5 w in the Jim green rangers(slightly roomier than razorbacks in the toes). My redwings beckmans were 9.5 w but that was before I went more barefoot style and are a little tight now. A moctoe red wing could solve your issue. 10.5-11 wide in a moc toe Carolina boot with the crepe wedge sole. I also fit a 10.5 w Merrell Moab perfectly with thick socks. I've rucked in those and the rangers.

If you really do have weird clown/samsquatch feet and high budget, do not bother with mass produced boots, look for a fully custom boot store near you that works in person. These are more common near where loggers operate.

Some work online, you just send measurements/pictures and they mail it to you, but doing it in person is best.

        Expect to pay $700+ though

Dont hesitate to take this quest to the gays on /fa. They understand a ton about foot sizing and all sorts of shit like that. For my recommendation, it's this in a wide size. The plastic cladding on the heel is made to grip onto the heel

Ah, I don't trust most of them to have ever worn a boot when and where it counts, let alone a military-style one that wasn't just a LARP. I know /k/ is also full of LARPERs, but I trust this board over that one in general.

The arch in the builder pro is mandatory to prevent the heel from going into the toes from sliding forward due to the stack. Otherwise you're not even getting the builders if you go flatter in the sole's toe drop and also change the arch. I called and asked them.

corcorans are a cosplay boot, you can watch the video of them cut in half on youtube if you want the full breakdown. I would recommend redwing iron rangers for a first decent boot. If you want to spend more check out Whites or Nicks boots.

This may not be a stylish choice, but the waterproof Merrel Moabs are a comfy and durable boot that doesn’t look out of place in office slacks or on the trail. I’ve worn mine for years and they’ve been more reliable than all my leather boots.

    JK’s, Whites, Nicks, and Drew’s.

all solid boots that will be custom fitted to your foot.
you print out a sheet and follow the directions.
i’ve been wearing them for years. once they’re broke in to your foot, comfiest thing you can put on your feet. but…they’ll break you in more than you break them.
    usually 400$-600$
