88 don’t serve an indirect fire role, it’s a high velocity anti aircraft gun that was used in battery fire
germans just realized that you can also point high velocity guns at tanks in north africa

88s were used for indirect fire, allied soldiers also tended to call every gun an 88 as it was what they knew, and you're being an autistic pedant.

Not true. 88s were also used for indirect fire in WW2. According to the 101st Airborne anyway.

They were never used in that role. Just like how every tank was a tiger…

Did O'Neill kill Bin Laden, or did he just shoot him once he was already down? I thought the guy who actually fired the shots that put him down never had his identity revealed. I think he was also the guy who tackled two of Bin Laden's wives after shooting him.

There's always narcissists on spec ops, as they do test for psychopathic/sociopathic traits and prefer them (they provide resilience to mental stress of repeated missions). They're the ones doing podcasts and shit.

If the government was worried that Bin Laden would testify (nervermind nobody knew he was even shot until the government announced it anyways) why wouldn't they just missile strike the compound? Why do your conspiracy plots always lean on some shadowy group that is above the law relying on concocting silly black ops to hide their crime? Why is it always presented as some last ditch cover up that was discovered by internet autists? In this case specifically, why would the government care if Bin Laden caught a bullet from a SEAL in his compound or Agent Smith in some blacksite cell? The US government would be under literally zero pressure to let Bin Laden testify or to even let the world know they had him in custody. They extracted the body and it was "buried at sea" claiming there was also valuable intel found in the compound. For all you know he is sitting in some windowless cell beneath the whitehouse being brainwashed with sissy hypno porn and interrogated with long drawn out non-sequitur stories by Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell about their childhoods.

              >why didn't they just level a large house in the middle of a city of 250,000 people in an officially allied country
The raid was carried out without the permission or knowledge of the Pakistani government and they officially condemned it as it was, it would have been a legitimate problem to just fucking blow it up.

You're acting like it's some tinfoil hat conspiracy to say that bin Laden had extensive connections to both the cia and isi dating to the soviet-afghan war, which is just objective fact. In terms of what I think happened? It's not tinfoil hat lizard man conspiracy theory to think that he cut a deal with the ISI when he fled Afghanistan, and given the ISI's extensive history of funding terror groups it's not far fetched to infer from there that at least to some extent they were aware of his presence in Abbottabad given the location and size of the compound.
The CIA connection is admittedly a bigger leap to make but given, again, the agency's record of material support for entities outright hostile to the US up to and including setting up networks and training them, and given the close collaboration between the ISI and CIA, again it's not that far fetched leap to make.

              >they wouldn't be compelled to allow him to testify
They didn't allow him to testify and they didn't allow themselves to be put into a situation where that was even remotely a possibility

moron, everyone knows he was an asset, it's common knowledge he was trained by them to fight the soviets. Blowback and America's inability to forsee it coming is a joke specifically because of him. The tinfoil comes out when you think the CIA or Feds needed to task a kill squad for the guy when he would have been dead either way or they would have simply used the same weapon that turned Soleimani into salami. It doesn't matter if they killed him in Pakistan, had Obama blow his brains out with a gold plated 1911 on the flight deck of the Reagan or if Agent Smith put one in the back of his head somewhere in Langley or Cuba. Once they had actionable intel on his location he was a dead man, there wasn't a single deep state gay shitting his pants over the possibility that Bin Laden would get handed over to the UN and allowed to say he worked for the CIA, they didn't allow it to be a possibility because it never was.

                Anonymous

Yeah for sure gay that's why they waited until soleimani was in iraq to vaporize him lol
There are places that it's politically acceptable to drone strike and places it's not. Nobody gives a fuck if we drop a hellfire missile in Afghanistan or Iraq (ignoring that there was legitimately a ton of outrage over the Soleimani assassination), that particular urban center in Pakistan, not so much turns out.

Like what are you even fucking arguing here lmao? They literally sent a Tier 1 mil squad to merk him, they didn't do a drone strike, which they absolutely would have, which is why he was hiding in the middle of a city in pakistan in the first place.

You're not even arguing he wasn't an asset. You're arguing, what exactly? That there was no concern about him implicating high-level government officials in attacks on US citizens? We both agree he was an intelligence asset, we both agree he was killed in a manner that precludes any such testimony.

So our disagreement isn't about any of the facts, it's speculation about the motive. I think he was maintained as an asset up to his death and I suspect that at the very least the ISI and probably the CIA knew where he was and was probably even using him to control counterterror operations potentially up to his death, at which point I think a call was made that he had become politically more useful as a dead body than as an asset. Within a few months of his death we were actively funding, arming, and training al qaeda affiliates in syria and libya.
You think that we killed him as soon as we verified where he was.
The manner of his killing means that we'll never actually get to know.

I'll also argue that what I'm saying is considerably less tinfoil hat shit than the official narrative for a decade, which was that he was holed up in a sophisticated network of underground fortresses in hollowed-out mountains like a fucking bond villian.

At least one other guy on the raid (Matthew Bissonnette) wrote a bookand publicly claimed to be the guy who killed UBL, in fact Bissonnette's book came out first but he got in trouble because he didn't let the Navy vet the manuscript before publication.

Both Bissonnette and O'Neill left the Navy early foregoing their full pension to try and capitalize on the fame of being "the guy who killed bin Laden," O'Neill just happened to win the press battle.
According to multiple anonymous sources neither of them were the first guy through the door.
O'Neill has publicly said he canoed UBL, probably after he was dead, which is the reason for the "burial at sea" and that was probably the ONE thing these dudes were told explicitly not to do.

O'Neill is also from my hometown and is a notorious violent drunk driving shitbird who leans on his celebrity to get out of trouble and I have literally zero doubt the allegations in OP are 100% true.

There’s a reason the alcoholism, addiction, divorce, and suicide rates among these people are so high (same with law enforcement/corrections).
They’re usually entirely unlikable after they peak and leave their cool guy job, and they lose all of their personal connections because nobody likes being around them.

After travelling the world on his release at the end of the war, Sir Jack returned to live at Castle Leslie in his 70s, when he became a regular visitor to County Monaghan nightclubs.
The pensioner is famed for his love of dancing to rave music, and celebrated his 85th birthday in the world's biggest nightclub in Ibiza.
Sir John Leslie was presented with the Legion d'Honneur at the French embassy in Dublin on Monday. The 98-year-old is a cousin of Winston Churchill.

During WW2, he commanded a section of the British Army in a battle to defend Boulogne Sur Mer from the Germans.

        >Idk how much interaction you've had with former SOF dudes but they're extremely weird in pretty much every normal social situation.
Can confirm, one of my next door neighbors was an active duty SEAL. My first interaction meeting him was when he pounded on my door at 3:00 in the morning wearing all black skivvies and a skullcap to let me know that, quote, "some dudes are staking out the neighborhood." Guy had no social cues, and couldn't understand why I was pissed off and came to the door with a glock behind my back. His wife was hot though, but they were both evangelical or some shit so she was always talking about god.

SOF selection is deliberately biased toward "non-traditional" problem-solving, physical and mental resiliency, and antisocial personality disorder (more commonly known as sociopathy and/or psychopathy). All these dudes fit the type for a reason. And I'd argue that you're wrong about the TBI thing, a lot of these dudes show symptoms that are consistent with multiple concussions in conjunction with the criteria listed above.

Idk how much interaction you've had with former SOF dudes but they're extremely weird in pretty much every normal social situation. One particular encounter during a training I was at stands out where a former CAG guy (who was in his 50s) out of nowhere starts talking about jacking off and eventually starts pulling porno mags out of his backpack at the range during our lunch break, and he legitimately did not seem to understand or care that this wasnt an appropriate context for that or that nobody else was interested in that concersation.

In my experience, AFSOF, Rangers, and Green Berets were the most normal in that order, with MARSOC, CAG dudes, and SEALs being the least normal, also in that order.

Those are the ones I've had experience with anyway. It's also been exclusively former mil dudes I've met through work so there's definitely a chance that skews stuff but I think it's relevent to this convo in terms of retired SOF public figures

I think it is the drugs that came with the high operational tempo. Alcohol included. Injuries from too much PT or battle injuries add up. Roids are necesary to keep up with the insane fitness standards and painkillers are needed to keep you going. Uppers are used for long operations and downers to stabilize you. Marihuana to mellow you out. Tobacco and stupid amounts of caffeine are used everyday to stimulate the CNS against the massive fatigue. It is not hafd to see how you can become an unstable junkie like mad man. Performance is what matters and the navy wont ask how do yo do it.

They sent a team because a drone strike wouldn't be able to verify it. Also it's really just muslim or anti-american butthurt that would have conniptions about killing Osama or canoeing him. He wasn't Yasser Arafat where he was a political figure as well as a militant. He was an out and out terrorist. Asset or not, the only reason people give a shit is:
        >A bloo bloo bloo sovereignty (for some reason A-Ok for Afghanistan or Pakistan to violate American sovereignty by abetting and protecting Osama while he plans a strike but not ok for the US to violate their sovereignty)
        >A bloo bloo bloo americans

GWOT SOF bloat and mission creep plus muh troops propaganda has propagated the current culture.

Your dad probably actually did underwater demolition and maritime operations (you know, the specialized tasks the SEALs were founded to do) rather than being one of a shitload of dudes across every branch whose main job was to go into people's houses and kill them while they were asleep, and he probably did it before muh psychopath biker gang aesthetic and sick branding and podcast opportunities after retirement were the reason people went through selection in the first place.

        Anonymous

This is probably the best take. OG SOF guys did the job for higher reasons. Most people probably didn't even know what a Navy Seal even was, or even SF or fucking Rangers. There was no real fame or fortune to be had. You did it, full well knowing of the risks involved, because you had a calling to it or thought that you could do more than what you were doing for the/a "cause".

Modern SOF have been psyop'd into being irl marvel superheroes. Combine that with the zeitgeist of the last man syndrome of "feel bad for me" and "look how much I've suffered, compared to you!" race to the bottom type of shit and you got yourself a shitstorm of hyper aggressive in the childlike sense retards joining up and having their egos go out of control. Just to get occasionally cockslapped by reality when the enemy doesn't just die while being asleep but actually fight back through ambushes and IED's which leads to horribly fucked up mental states as those egos of supermen get shattered by the fist of reality. If US forces ever get deployed into a combat zone against a competent enemy who has the will to fight and terrain where they can actually protect themselves from constant drone strikes, I have a feeling we are not only going to see mass casualty events that we haven't seen since Korea and Vietnam due to GWOT making everyone lazy and making moves they really shouldn't ever make because they would never get punished by the enemy for doing them. But you will probably see mass casualties and a complete breaking down of US SOF forces who will go in thinking it's another D/A mission just to walk into an enemy complex battle position and get shot at from all sides with no cover and no means for support to help.

Violence in and of itself is normal, men are warlike. Who you do violence to and whether said violence is controlled or uncontrolled are far more important aspects. Most guys I see who are former SOF all give me "I beat my son for not being what I dreamed of while I'm drunk, but it's not my fault" kind of energy.

      >Chris Kyle

Was reportedly the deadliest sniper in American history at 160 confirmed kills. Got caught lying about shooting looters during Hurricane Katrina and beating up ex-Navy SEAL Jesse Ventura for his supposed lack of patriotism. Was killed while administering one of the most ill-advised forms of therapy imaginable (taking a PTSD-afflicted vet to a gun range, I'm not kidding) before either came to light. His death proved to be extremely convenient as it overshadowed the lies.

      >Marcus Luttrell

Lone survivor of the botched Operation Red Wings. Wrote a book naturally called Lone Survivor. Has been proven to have at the very least greatly exaggerated the number of Taliban fighters present, is alleged to have engaged in cowardice and fled the battlefield to save himself although virtually no solid proof of the latter claims actually exist.

They 'literally' put out a doctored photo claiming it was his corpse, then said they did not take him alive, took no other photos or dna evidence, and dumped his burned remains into the ocean.

Then Osama's posse would have given some evidence stating otherwise

Then they would of had to admit he'd been dead for years prior.
Many of his videos were thought to be made after he died.
Low and behind he had no new content for a long time prior to supposedly being iced.

This “droopy eyes” intelligence connection is some interesting folk reasoning I haven’t encountered before, where are you/your family from anon?

        Anonymous

You can actually see in someone's eyes if they're smart or not, independently of the physiognomy.
Look as Magnus Carlsen, for example.
He has an actual neanderthal face, but you can see the calculating behind his eyes.

Veterans (only referring to former infantry) are usually stimulant or fentanyl or krokodile (in russia only) addicted loosers.

The shitty goreposters on PrepHole are likely mostly veterans.

DJ Shipley also has brain damage he was next to a door charge that went off right next to him as well as multiple grenades and bombs. All of these guys are on TRT or HGH and all of them have severe PTSD/paranoia issues (see Shipley calling the cops on his own friend).

I can almost guarantee DJ was just as big of a gay before any brain damage as he was after, maybe just with less inhibitions and a pinch more violence.
Like most of these guys, he is a grade A douche if you actually listen to them.

That video is insane and such a great indicator of what many people in this thread have said about these guys coming across like serial killers in normal situations
Imagine publicly filming, editing, uploading, and then selling a line of products all centered around the fact that integrity is gay and retarded.

Imagine being any of the fucking retards paying these dudes for workout routines and motivational speeches about brotherhood on patreon knowing that they did this lol. To say nothing of the gbrs gay drama that followed.
