Can Ukraine maintain these decades old airframes that they've never used before and provide them constant fighter cover? Russians will be gunning for them since they're easy targets, and any cover means less fighter cover for other units. Redditors refuse to answer this

A-10’s have chaff, flares, and electronic countermeasures. Russians have aging Soviet equipment manned by Mongolian conscripts and minimal SAM coverage. And the US is already in talks to start training Ukie pilots on the F-15 and F-16 (F-16 being the premier weasel platform).
It is quite literally over for vatBlack folk. They can kiss this contested airspace goodbye and embrace having total air inferiority.

how long does it take to train a fighter pilot? not baiting geniunely curios, I know that soviet union used to claim to train vietnamese fighters but actually just send its own pilots, which there are even russian songs boasting about that

            Anonymous

From scratch, or do you mean training Ukrainian fighter pilots (who are used to flying MiGs) to fly western fighters? Like the actual tech school for fighter pilots only involves 6-8 months of actual flying. Before that it’s all aeronautical principles and time in flight sims. Realistically we could train Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in about 7 months. If we have to train Ukrainian servicemen from scratch to be fighter pilots, then probably 18-21 months~

            Anonymous

For a brand new pilot, Bare minimum of six months, more like two years for full combat capability.
For someone who's already a pilot of a different system, that gets cut down. Flying isn't actually the hard part, systems familiarity is. Learning how to operate advanced weapons, radar, ECM etc. Experienced MIG-29/SU-27 pilots for F-16s might be the best candidates, if you really crash-coursed and skimp some 'superfluous' stuff you could probably get them decently effective in six months I bet.

Realistically Ukraine has about 6-7 years at the current rate the Russian invasion is going. After that we will finally hit the insurgency phase. With Vatnik loss rates however, the war will likely be over by the end of the year. Putin ousted for this military bungle, same as with Afghanistan and the Soviets, and Ukraine using its now modernized military to mop up the vatnig sympathizers in Donbabwe/Luganda

The hardest part for Ukies is not speaking the language. For the Pzh 2000 they just had to memorise what to press when certain shapes of words came up on the screen and call the Germans via not-Zoom if anything went wrong.

Probably can't do that for a fighter jet, though, so either the Ukrainians would have to learn English or the planes would have to be relabelled.

In the USA, about 3 years right now. But it can be done in 9 months, our pipeline is super long and inefficient now. Typically in Vietnam for example, 9 months street to fleet.

But against a relatively modern military it is a meme and requires support that Ukraine doesn't have.

Just give them F-15's and F-16's, train tens of thousands of troops, give them more artillery and something to remove the Black Sea fleet assets and we can talk after that.

      >Hey we'll give you grain if you buy our military shit and let us have bases in the Med, looking at you Egypt!
Which means the USA cannot concentrate on China. It also means that nations like, lets say Rwanda (who are the Singapore of Africa really) could potentially invade Uganda to take their $10 trillion in gold they just found... or Egypt might invade South Sudan to secure their water supplies from the Niles and this leads to other issues which will affect the bottomline of the US companies profits. If nobody helps Ukraine, then China can go

The US cant even ignore Russia now. It wont be able to ignore it even if it losses because it will rearm itself for the day of the revenge. They will likely join forces with China. Hell, it wont be able to ignore it even if there is a coup in Russia or destabilizes because that could mean nukes getting lost or someone firing them in the confusion. It's a problem from hell. The only way for the US to stop caring about Russia if Russia joins NATO after a coup or something.

With what machine tools, electronics, and workforce? All Russian military contractors, like Rheinmetall, Siemens, Eroglu or DMG Mori Aktiengesellschaft are all forced by Western sanctions to cut trade with Russia. The only tank factory that Russia has just closed due to a shortage of materials. It's not just the T-14 Armata - Russia will no longer have any more T-90s, T-80, thermals, fire-control systems, etc.

Wrong. The Russian tank factory has reopened. Second, once the war is over, I guarantee you that they will spend a significant % of their resources to either buy machine-tools or invest hard in domestic manufacturing.

Anything negative about any piece of US equipment, EXCEPT for the A-10. What? Where is it gaining value? Also let me give you an example of how the ruble works. My name is Anon. I have created my own currency, it is called AnonBuck. Each AnonBuck is worth $1 trillion. However only myself and my cat can use it. But look, I say it is worth $1 trillion, so my currency is the STRONGEST and BEST in the world hahaha!

An alternative example is. I run a shop. It sells plates. I sell my plates for $10 each. Somebody comes along and forces my shop to close and blocks people entering. I then change the price of my plates to $100. I am doing better now! Look! My plates are $100! I buy the plates with my own money! This means I am doing better than before!

              You're a moron.

Sure, the man is a fricking snake oil salesman and a shameless opportunist, but he never was in Putin's pocket. If you dont see current Ukranian aviation doing anything other than lobbing rockets with pop-up attacks you sure as shit aint gonna see A-10s doing gun runs on Russian positions, at best, they will be lobbing Mavs or APKWS
So you are going to waste billions on capability, which if you start working on it today, might be at best ready in 3-6 months, and you achieve the same result as using HIMARS or Excaliber which are already fielded
