I'm beginning to think drone operators are deliberately testing out the optimum distance they can drop grenades so they can use three or five to keep wounding vatniks without killing them, then watch to see how long it takes for them to off themselves.

I asked this in another thread but I'm repeating it here.
      >oh no! I am wounded and under attack!
      >Should I try and fight to the end? Attempt to surrender?
      >No! I will kill myself immediately!
Why? What is this thought process? Is this just Russian fatalism or what?

I post this on every suicidenik thread now since people get so puzzled at why this keeps happening. So here it goes:

"There's plenty of stories of troops killing themselves in the trenches in WWI, on several sides. And this shit with the new soviet men killing themselves in the battlefield comes from WWII when the slaves were ordered by the father of all peoples, Stalin, to not surrender and not be captured and to actively try to die so you wouldn't be captured. Soldier-slaves who were captured or who had surrendered were then corrected into being good, decent soviet men after they came back to the USSR through the usual methods of re-education and correction into the good, moral, socialist lifestyle through rape and torture and/or execution not necessarily in that order.

This culture was reinforced in Afghanistan when the Soviet troops were fighting the Mujahideen who would also execute POWs and mutilate the corpses, along with civilians that would do the same.

Then in Chechenya they were fighting with an enemy that would torture, rape and mutilate POWs and execute them and do the same to the bodies but now they'd take pictures and videos and upload it to the internet and send it to their family members. Then 15 years later in Syria they face Al Qaeda and ISIS that would do the same but now in HD. So this suicide culture was reinforced by most other major conflicts Russia got into since World War II."

Russia government also re-introduced the USSR laws against surrender and capture in this war so now if you get captured or surrender and end up back in Russia you're punished with going to prison which allows you to be mobilized for the war again.

They legitimately believe that the Ukrainian Nazis will capture them and melt them down into HATO biofuel to transmogrify into the next batch of Boris Johnson clones.

They think the Ukies will find them and rape them, then rape their Soviet ancestors with satanic HATO globohomer magic.

Well for one everyone who's ever been in the army is taught to take a gun away from a wounded soldier since they're distraught and might off themselves. Secondly Ukrainians would literally kill you if you surrendered, Slavs don't take prisoners

Projection on how they will be treated the same as Ukie PoWs are treated by Russians.

        https://i.imgur.com/5jTRwPj.jpeg

People who surrender are considered to be traitors in russia, so if they're ever returned in a prisoner exchange, the FSB is going to give them the hot-dog octopus treatment, if you catch my drift.

I understand the whole "Russians think Ukranians will kill them if they surrender" thing. What I don't understand is why the default to suicide? Why not die fighting? If you want to die a glorious death do a banzai charge like the Japanese (assuming you can still walk). If you're immobilized you can feign death until the Ukranians show up and then pop up with an AK and try and take out a few soldiers before they gun you down (remember ruse de guerre is not perfidy and feigning death is not feigning surrender). Why are they just giving up and killing themselves and depriving themselves of honor/valhalla/whatever and the opportunity to hit back at the Ukranians however slightly?

They dont want to be there in the first place. They dont know how to fight, they were put there without more than a week training. They believe they are up against a military that got their shit together (half true, ukies better than the russkies)
Its like asking a hobo how the stock market works, they just cant comprehend war

They also attack people in suicidal ways too. For example, letting Ukrainians move to you to capture you with a grenade in your hand.

However if they survive and end up captured they will still run the risk of going back to Russia and being punished for not fighting to the death.

That's not because of hate, Russians rape and torture and execute because they're animals, Ukranians kill surrendering enemies because of drone warfare mostly. They often drop pamphlets recommending them to surrender and such.

The number of Russian prisoners of war (POWs) in Ukraine has been significant enough that Ukraine has had to open additional detention facilities. As of recent reports, Ukraine has opened its third camp for Russian POWs due to the large number of surrenders and the complexities involved in prisoner exchanges (Yahoo).

Recent prisoner exchanges have seen Ukraine return 248 Russian soldiers, and Ukraine has received over 200 of its own personnel in return (DW). Additionally, a Ukrainian state initiative called "Hochu Zhit" (I Want to Live) reported receiving over 35,000 applications from Russian soldiers seeking to surrender safely

People who surrender are considered to be traitors in russia, so if they're ever returned in a prisoner exchange, the FSB is going to give them the hot-dog octopus treatment, if you catch my drift.

Just as the Japanese were ordered to torture and kill American troops in the most merciless of fashions, so too the Russians have done to the Ukrainians. This is not for the degradation of the Ukrainian, although that is part of it, but it is to implant a thought in the minds of the common Russian conscript: "If we all do this to the Ukrainians, what will they do to me if I surrender?" It is a way to close the door on any hope of surrender for the common soldier. The crimes against Ukrainian POWs are similarly a crime against potential Russian POWs.

What the frick is this samurai bullshit? It’s fricking 2024 and we still have people fricking killing themselves to avoid capture like a bunch of medieval era warriors. Are all Russians this moronic or is this just one of a few outliers within their armed forces?

Think its more of being in agonizing pain would make most people want too kill themselves. So when your trained "that's what you should do" and know there's no hope of a casevac what else you gonna do kinda too late too surrender already got perforated by shrapnel and agonizing pain is only thing you can think about frick it ill just end it faster.

That makes sense. But there's videos of Russians doing these after light, basic wounds like a single gun shot.

Gun shots often hurt. Imagine being stung by a wasp, but constantly, and it's a screwdriver stuck all the way in you and wiggles every time you move. If you're tough you may grit your teeth and bear it, but a lot of people aren't tough.

They literally do not care about their people. At all.
Especially those outside Moscow/.Saint Petersburg oblast.
They will die, and it will be ok, like one wise man said.
But why does a mobik go along with it? They don't know any better, would be my guess.

Suicide definitely happens to the Ukrainians too.
There was that one trench raid where buddy got shot by a PKM after turning a corner, and while getting dragged off the dude helping him tells him not to kill himself with a grenade.
It happens, just probably not on drone cam once a week kek

I see 2 reason for this.
1: border troops. Even if they crawl back, their reward is a bullet to the head. No point trying
2: Even if some madman russian did it, why would an ukrainan drone record it and show it? They are looking for preys in the battlefield, not making a wildlife documentary

If they are captured or surrender and are taken back to Russia or Russian lines they're heavily punished.
