Advantage of having your most advanced weapons components manufactured in USA and IK?

Advanced weapons like the 9M729 cruise missile fired from the Iskander-K or the 9M949 300 mm rocket used in used in Russia’s Tornado-S MRLS system, or the TOR-M2 air-defense system all uses parts manufactured in USA or UK. What is the advantage of that, and may Russia face a "little" supply chain challenge? Asking for a friend...

Nothing new under the sun. Soviets had a fetish with american things too.

The really funny thing is that dual launcher design never made it past the prototype stage due to technical and economic issues, the only ones like it in service are actually KN-23s.

      >KN-23s
      Isn't that Norks shit?

        Anonymous

Yes. The KN-23 is a basically Iskander, just a bit bigger and more survivable with better logistics due to the twin launcher. The Norks copied it as well as the new launch truck, however Russia never actually made the truck besides a prototype so the Nork version (which Russia bought from them) is quite possibly better than Russia's own.

It's not just "chips" those are components like entire circuits boards, fiber-optic gyroscopes, data sockets attachment points for missiles, oscillators used in radar control systems etc...

      >uh yes bly- i mean hello sir i would like [thing that only high end signal processing for radar or similar needs]

Yeah keep "evading" those sanctions moron. Enjoy your 900% markup. Believe it or not, that's the point.

Oh and enjoy your ass-chips. You know the ones they smuggle, individually and at great cost, from western countries into Russia inside the colons of tourists.

realistically russia can use its own cpus. they're not the best but you shouldn't need anything particularly sophisticated for missile guidance

        more like
        >these aren't going to russia, pinky promise
        >good enough for me. money doesn't smell or something
which is how russia gets western cnc machines btw

Both sides have a bunch of "Lost Tech" they can't replace on their own. Every time they lose it here and there the internet explodes but the stalemate continues.

Fact is it hasn't mattered. When they lose one weapons system they change their tactics. We're not going to see a breakthrough on either side for ~2 years.

We know they can make their own guidance systems because I still have ptsd from seeing the soldering straight out of hell.
So like most shit they imported they can replace it with inferior and more expensive domestic parts.
