According to ukrainian sources, the former commander in charge of securing the north eastern border got demoted and has been replaced. There are rumors of traitors within the officers. That looks eerily familiar to what happened at adviivka a month ago, when an entire division simply caved and left their position. Do you think there are still russian sympathizers in the ukrainian top brass?

This was from like 2022, but the FSB got orders to plant evidence on a guy for being a nazi to justify a raid. They misread orders to plant 3 sim cards as "three copies of the sims". They also show a note that's basically just their exact orders written in cursive that was supposed to be some collaborator letter. It was absolutely embarrassing.

Soviet corruption doesn't disappear just because an existential war is on. And that assumes there even was corruption vs just replacing people who had setbacks to interrupt to a losing streak.

If I had a general losing on a front, I would consider replacing them even if I didn't think they did anything wrong. High chance to let that general cool off, retrain and reuse somewhere else too. Rotating personnel is normal.

I don't get the pro Russia morons. Even under the most cynical analysis this war has provided great value for NATO.

I'm ashamed to say the scenario I imagined at the start of the war was that Russia would take Ukraine easily and be on Europe's doorstep at close to full strength. Instead they've lost ww2 proportions of equipment and enough personnel that there was a Wagner mutiny. Even if Ukraine were to surrender tomorrow, the war would've been a historic embarrassment and a huge black eye for Russia on the world stage.

It would be massive resource, territory and population boon for russia, There would be no embarassment for them. If you want for it to be embarassment they need to be pushed out of territories they gained since 2022, and for that european nato countries need to greatly increase their military spending and not in some "decade long plans to get to 3% in 2030s" like norway but in "Poland making adjusting their current year budget to get to 4%." way so their MICs can be rebuild in time.

Nato would never allow it. The reason why they're so skittish in giving sid to ukraine is because ukrainians are a fodder to be sacrificed. When russians, if russians, become a a threat and actually manage to get gains that are worth money, and not dilapidated village ruins on the border that barely qualify as propaganda victories, have no doubt they'll start deploying their own troops.

          >Russia couldn't do anything with millions of square miles they already have
They can dig stuff out of the ground and farm stuff on it. In fact this is why their economy still functions: gas and oil. Ukraine has plenty of these too. If Russia would be pushed out of it, they would lose a lot of influence due to new source of these 2 resources. If they can take ukraine they will become a lot stronger since they will gain another sources of these 2 resources. On top of that there are also Ukrainian farmlands. And that ukraine supplies 70% of global xenon.
