According to one of the largest volunteers in Ukraine the effectiveness of thermal drones is at 80-90% meaning out of 100 drones 85 successfully hit their target.
This contradicts many "think-tanks" who claim 9 out of 10 fpv drones get jammed or miss and don't reach their target

I don't know the reliability of the source, but even if true you cant equate thermal FPV drones with FPV drones as a whole.

maybe the "think-tank" are talking about all fpv's hit ratio? After all, thermal drones would be best used at night, and most jamming equipment are handheld directional devices

EW varies from the electronic equivalent of shining a strobe light from your CQB rifle into your enemy's eyes or blasting punk rock from directional megaphones so your enemies can't talk to each other, all the way up to literal mind control beams and heart attack noise

        it's a complicated topic

    >This contradicts many "think-tanks" who claim 9 out of 10 fpv drones
The vast majority of FPV drones aren't thermal drones
There's a number of factors that make the thermal drones more successful. Primary one being that they're usually used at night so the targets have less chance of knowing there's a drone in the area, and less chance of evading it

    >This contradicts many "think-tanks" who claim 9 out of 10 fpv drones get jammed or miss and don't reach their target
If you read/watch Sternenko more then you would know that initially 9/10 FPV drones with normal operators hit their targets, now it's a 5-6/10

there's also a lot more videos of single mobiks being hit by FPVs, so no doubt this is also a matter of there being enough FPVs around for people to not mind using them for uncertain hits/harassment.

It was always anti drone cope. Because otherwise they have to admit they need to change their ways. EW is far from a silver bullet. It can't be everywhere and EW mitigations are evolving even faster, and unlike what they claim, EW resistance can be made cheap too. Even if you jam the current AliExpress shit it far from seals their fate.

Maybe they're both right, but only 10% of vehicles have jammers?

What's the cost difference between an FPV drone and a thermal FPV drone ?
If 8 thermal FPV out of 10 hit, you need 1,25 drones per target.
If 1 non-thermal FPV out of 10 hit, you need 10 drones per target.
That means you can have a +700% mark up and the thermal would still be competitive. It would even be more so given it would be lighter on the logistics and personnel.

    >This contradicts many "think-tanks" who claim 9 out of 10 fpv drones get jammed or miss and don't reach their target
    no it doesn't, you mathlet.
what percentage of drones are IR equipped?
what percentage of all drones reach their target?
you should go back to trying to master which shaped blocks go in which shaped holes before branching out.

      >what percentage of all drones reach their target?
Not the point OP is making, it seems.
Point seems to be that, with the right specs, FPV drones are reliable weapons.
Of course, if such specs are costly to produce or hard to scale, then that's another story.

We should all donate for more drones for Ukraine.
