I dropped the bolt in my AR with a round in the chamber and it went bang. Everyone thought I was a retard.

You are a retard. The question is just whether or not you're a retard that learned anything.

What? Your AR slam fired? Fix your shit bro it should not do that.

This. If your shit is slam firing and you know about it and do nothing... one slip up at the range and it's going to end in a short trip to the ATFs lab to prove you have an open bolt machine gun.

PrepHole vet here, I don't remember the article it was years ago, but I do remember it going viral here. Someone had a neglected gun that was resulting in double taps due to the rifle slamfiring due to some kind of malfunction.

If I remember the story right, there was an off duty cop or ATF agent at that particular range and the guy got busted. ATF took the rifle and found it to be an open bolt machinegun and IIRC the lad went to jail

the atf just waiting for an excuse

How do you drop the bolt with a round in the chamber? If you're charging the weapon there is either no round in the chamber, or you just ejected a cartridge and are pushing a new one into the chamber.

      Anonymous

kinda being sematic, anon probably had an empty chamber and full mag then dropped the bolt and it went off. Can happen considering the free floating firing pin. enough crud in just the wrong places and BANG. thats why you should keep your BCG/FP clean or charge it in a safe direction.

        https://i.imgur.com/WQWAmRT.jpg

thats gunna happen just because of the way it is designed. Just pull out the complete BCG and shake it, the firing pin is just chilling and moves freely

That's one soft as fuck primer if a free floating pin picks up enough nomentum to set it off just from the bolt going home. It would also be hitting before the carrier had cammed the bolt behind the chamber lugs, so probably a borderline out of battery detonation too.

          Anonymous

Its mainly gunk getting stuck behind the pin and locking it forwards.
Combloc guns are legendary for this because they come mostly packed in cosmoline out of deep storage when they end up on the US market and people often don't realize how deeply packed that stuff can get. So they take their SKS to the range half cleaned and get a slam fire.

live chambered round doesnt eject for some reason. maybe he forgot it was in there?
      shortstroke?
partial ejection? that was blocked by a hand or something anyways theres still a round in the chamber.
then shit get racked and the next round in the mag is pushed forwards and hits the chambered rounds primer. bam.
      its a worse case doublefeed

I thought my BCG was defective too, but I did more research and it turns out all mil spec ammunition I.e real Winchester M193 or M855 has a slight indent on the primer. Check some other rounds and you’ll see it. Idk why it’s on there but it is.

Personally, I've ND'd a few times, and learned something valuable each time

    >At friends apartment at college. Just bought my first pistol from a gun show (I was 18)
    >Drinking with friends
    >Show them my new Jericho
    >Try to manually decock
    >Thumb slips on hammer, ND into celling
    >Upstairs neighbors too high and drunk (underage and illegal drugs) to call the police.

    Second time
    >At range
    >Showing friend pistol
    >Think gun is unloaded
    >Point at ground show him how to wrack and pull the trigger.
    >Forgot loaded mag in
    >Shoot between his feet

    Third time
    >At parents house.
    >Just bought a sig from a guy
    >Get home
    >Try swapping slides with another sig I had
    >Forgot the other sig slide was chambered.
    >Pull trigger
    >Shoot parents wall

    Fourth time
    >At my new house
    >Playing with a friend's 5.56 AK
    >Release bolt
    Slam fires round into ground

    Fith time
    >Showing a friend how to use it
    >No idea how but a round got chambered
    >Show him how the trigger works,
    >Pull trigger
    >Shoots round into floor in the same place as before

    Sixth time
    >Thought maybe the house was haunted
    >Grab a sig
    >Physically clear it, (racked the slide 3 times) with no magazine in
    > pull trigger at the same hole
    >Round goes off

Turns out the sig's extractor got stuck somehow something got I to the spring

    Seventh time
    >Friend brings over a used Glock wants me to look over it
    >I grab it and pull the trigger without clearing it
    >Didn't even realize the thing was loaded.

    Eighth time
    >Friend brings over his transferable Mac 10
    >I had no idea how open bolt guns worked.
    >He's showing it off to me
    >I put a loaded mag it and decided to try and release the bolt (I thought it shot from a closed bolt)
    >Pulled the trigger for some reason
    >Shot 3 rounds into my wall

    >shoot him 3 times in chest
    >wife comes to hall and starts screaming and runs to phone
    >shoot at her 3 times and hit her once in the back
    >shes on the ground bleeding and screaming
    >walk over and double tap her in head
    >hit her once and dry fire second time cuz the P-3AT doesnt have a slide stop
    >walk out
    >dog finally shut the fuck up
    >take pizza and throw it in a dumpster a couple of blocks from the store
    >get back to store tell coworkers the blood is pizza sauce
    >pretty good night after that, make like $40 in tips for a 5 hour shift

AR rifle should not fire like this. the mass of firing pin and inertia of bolt are designed to deliver less joules over a wider area than is necessary to detonate a standard rifle primer so either OP is using a gun that has something very wrong with it or OP is a retard. From experience I can 99% say that OP dropped a bolt and pulled a trigger on an AR15 that was in the fire condition.

OP, Eugene Stoner was smarter than you and already thought of all the ways you could fuck this up then made it so you cnt fuck it up unless you pull the trigger like you did

If you ND you made a mistake of negligence

If you AD you had a discharge at no fault of your own, but due to a malfunction of the rifle.

If you neglect your gun or did a lot of 'work' on it yourself, or if it's tricked out with all kinds of 3rd party parts, an AD could potentially be seen as an ND.

Therefore, if this is the first ever AD, and your firearm was otherwise in good condition and you didn't use some kind of GUCCI bolt/carrier/upper, then this would qualify as an accidental discharge and you have a duty to repair the rifle before it happens again. If all of these assumptions are true and you neglect to repair the rifle and an 'accidental discharge' happens again, it will in fact be a negligent discharge.

Take good care of your stuff and be responsible please

I had a close call last year. I went with a buddy to an elderly friends house. I noticed he had a bolt action gun standing in the corner. After some discussion we asked if we could finger fuck it. He brought it over, opened the bolt, looked inside, and then handed it to my buddy. My buddy upon handling the gun, open it up and made sure it was clear. When he was done, he handed it to me. I, likewise, checked it. I didn't see any thing inside and closed the bolt. I pointed it away from them and felt it's handling. I decided to check the trigger pull, but before I did I figured I'd check the chamber one more time. I open the bolt and there was a fucking live shell in the chamber. Turned out that the extractor had broken after a range trip and he never got around to clearing the gun or taking to get fixed, and after years of it just sitting in his corner, he just forgot about it. I fucking almost shat myself seeing the gun that three people had visually inspected was actually loaded.
