Never because if gangs wanted automatic weapons they'll get them through... illegal means.

canister shot drive-by is way more cooler

Cool yes, but not good for drive-bys.

what are you talkin' about? it'd be perfect in the back seat braced against opposite door. a fat bag filled with 1/2in shot would MUNT anyone or thing on port side.

          You lack imagination
Put one of those on a truck bed with a guy to man it and exterior walls will be reduced to concealment

          >the 9mm gatling gun is very small
          >load up a truck with a bunch of them
          >grab some homeboys
          >load the gatling guns with 100+ round mags
          >roll up to the target
          >everybody fires at once
          >d-day but in the hood
          >can reload very quickly allowing you to stay in the fight and keep on killing/suppressing
          VS
          >load a couple in the truck
          >get 2 maybe 3 shots off
          >reloading takes forever
          >white smoke obscures your vision
          >not very versatile
sorry homeboys, but the gatling gun is not only cooler, but it's much more effective; however, I think combining both could prove to be very effective so there's no need to fight further.

It's called a drive by. Getting the most done with one volley is optimal.

              This
also from what I hear, Black folk do drivebuys more to intimidate/send a message, than actually try to kill. one shot from a cannon with grapeshot that tears through your house would be way more intimidating than five homies shooting randomly at your house with crappy 9mms as they speed by. plus your target doesnt get the benefit of ducking after the first shots, it's just one big shot.

well guess what? now we can do multiple drive bys in rapid succession or we can drive by a target twice! bet you feel silly now huh?

The point is to get in, hit once, and get out. If you're doing "multiple passes" you're doing it wrong.

You could open both doors, and let recoil carry the cannon out the opposite side. That way you could fire the heaviest thing you and your homies can wrestle into the back without fricking up the door.

The simplest recoil mount is no recoil mount.

          > just one cannon
If you're going to broadside fire you need to load that suv up. I'm betting you could get half dozen into a suburban.

        >what states is it legal to own a cannon?
Federal USA, all of them unless local ordinance.
        Google signal cannon.
My grandfather in law built one from steampipe, chamber size fit golf balls, sitting on a wooden trolley that looked period 1800s. He'd load it with powder, tamp in a golf ball. We'd take turns blowing holes in an old barn 1/4 mile away.
        Good times.

The Harbor Freight wheels and tires ruin it for me.

My LGS had one for the shop and let anyone who bought 9mm at the shop shit this moronic thing. I watched a guy do it and it’s lame as frick. The hand crank doesn’t get it going fast enough.

Let me guess; slightly slower than you could fire semiauto with a rifle. I guess the advantage is no recoil so all follow up shots follow same line.

If we get moon colonies, but also diversity on the moon for muh representation, then it would only weigh 11lbs there, so if by some quirk of shitty gun laws this becomes the best available thing, then maybe we're talking 150 years out.

Do these have any perceivable tactical advantage? In any scenario?
The best I can think of is home defense against multiple intruders in a very tight zone of fire, while not wanting to break the NFA.

When your entire command is being wiped out by Indians riding circles around your emplaced positions, you'll think just before you die, "That damn fool Custer should've brought the Gatlings!"

Seriously though, in the modern world, chainguns are superior. I used to be a Gatling fanatic but eventually I grew out of it. Sad but adulting needs to be done. But for their time period, THEY WERE KING.

looking at that thing reminds me of Saving Private Ryan, where the Germans roll up the 20mm on wheels and give the Americans a broadside. Now imagine that in the US in the Ghetto.
