I smell frickery afoot in this Ukrainian abramns controversy because the official narrative doesnt make any sense. I think the US is being a b***h about abramns because they are afraid it will be humiliated. It has a really high ground pressure and will get fricked to death in the mud. it also has a inferior gun to the leopard and t72.
>muh jetfuel
turbines can use many different types of fuel without issue.
>muh maintenance
the power pack can be removed and replaced in the field
prove me wrong.
I agree but learn to spell first idiot
as someone who lives in DC, where the hell are all the Abrams we apparently have laying around?
Nevada. You can see them on Google earth. Just a fricking massive field of them.
i cant seem to find them please halp
Here you go friend
Is it just me or did there used to be more vehicles parked here?
they did move several hundred to europe, it's possible that they've been pulling em off to get them upgraded to SEPv3 while SEPv4 nears completion
Poland is going to receive 250 or so SepV3s so the hulls were taken out of storage and brought up to the V3 standard to give to Poland.
a couple of years ago, congress voted to keep producing them despite the army telling them they didnt want or need them.
not only is there a huge surplus, there is a bunch still being built.
sending them to the ukies is literally a slam dunk.
the only reason they wouldnt, that i can think of, is they know it will perform badly.
They keep producing them because it would be more expensive and take longer to start a new tank program from scratch instead of modifying the existing Abrams production line. So now there's a huge surplus and they were just giving them away to Iraq and whoever else. Might as well send them to ukraine too.
but if we start seeing picture of a bunch of abrams sinking into the mud, blown up by kornets and falling into rivers and shit, and ukrainians testifying that leopards are better, americans might demand that it be replaced and make the corrupt army hierarchy very mad.. it is pretty fricking old now and probably needs to be replaced anyway.
>public outcry demands Abrams replacement
>Congress allocates half a trill for testing. and procurement.
Why would this be bad for "corrupt officials" to get more funding and corporate kick backs?
im not talking about money corruption.
im talking about ideological/bureaucratic corruption.
a good example would be the bomber mafia from the 30s. the bomber mafia achieved their dominance by destroying the careers of their opposition, not by empirical evidence or logical argument. As a result tens of thousands of people fricking died.
logistics and maintenance still cost money
i guess that makes sense.
way cheeper to maintain leopards from factories in germany than abrams from factories 4,000 miles away in the USA
>know it will perform badly
It has special needs. I'm not goncerned about jet fuel, maintenance is a logistics problem that can be solved. But the weight of that vehicle getting stuck on a delta region during mud season is a legit, serious consideration. Which of the MBTs available handle mud season?
what if I said it wouldn't be the heaviest vehicle the UAF would be operating? Its realistically not heavy for the topography of Ukraine.
No MBT will handle Raspubreastsa well
ahem
the mud gets bad enough that amphibian would be worth while
west is a fair weather army, always has been
Russians don't fight in the Winter, either. No one fights in the Winter.
did those words seriously just come out your fricking mouth?
so Germans retreated a 100 miles in 6 months around Moscow?
that's not much.
Is the battle of Trenton banned by woke tards too now?
Nah we just use the secret globohomosexual technique of "Air Superiority" when ground engagements stall out to send you, your artillery support, your logistics train, and your emotional support Chechens back to God.
>destroys your little 50million dolarov toy
>Has to wear cold weather jackets inside muh sophisticated AA battery
>Doesnt even have a heater
sides My
Modern ruski hardware has a cool retro aesthetic though.
It's just like late 1960s. The Apollo era. Early computers.
It's so wacky that reality is this anachronistic.
More like Chinese knockoff 60s. Soviet equipment was better than this. Modern Ukrainian equipment has the same aesthetics, and at the same time works better and has better specs. In short, frick moskals
NATO RoE wouldn't allow chasing bombers or fighters into Russian territory.
Foxhounds would just camp at the border and lob AA-13 into Ukrainian air space. NATO won't be able to establish air superiority.
>NATO RoE wouldn't allow
Heh
US literally rather lost Vietnam than setting a food into North Vietnam
Datalinked AIM-120 into tailpipe over and over and over.
F-22 never even turned on it's radar and never showed up on Russian radar
>implying NATO couldn’t just lob AMRAAMs back
>AMRAAMs
>Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile
>Medium-Range
think again
hung up on the word "medium" for a missile that has a max operational range of 160km.
Against targets flying in a straight line directly towards you.
They aren't "producing" them, anon. The tank plants closed at the end of the cold war. They are rebuilding old hulls
a boneyard with literally thousands in storage because we geared up for a world war that never happened. however, unlike Soviet gear neglected in Siberian snow, our gear was put in the mojave
We literally have thousands in storage.
>abramns
Frick off ESL
Leopard is just trying to hide its hull ammo storage
I'm buying the story its just too maintenance intensive, and way too thirsty.
>the US is being a b***h about abramns because they are afraid it will be humiliated
I might unironically agree with that ... IF it is some sort of reverse-psy ops narrative. Humiliate the U.S. government by telling them they can't design a proper tank and they're ... *afraid* ...
> t. might work about as well as anything else
>I think the US is being a b***h about abramns because they are afraid it will be humiliated.
It's an old tank, lol. New (Western) shit inevitably will be better in some respects.
That's the number one thing that not enough people are taking note of or considering.
Any vehicle or piece of equipment at the front is going to be destroyed in large numbers. Abrams gonna get hit in the side by a kornet or pancaked by a kransopol same as t-62.
If you don't use them at the front, they are useless.
Same goes for f-16 and stuff. They have to get within range of SAMs and MiG 31, a shit load are gonna get lost even if they eventually come out on top.
BUT WE ALREADY DESTROYED YOUR WUNDERWAFFEN THAT MEANS RUSSKY MIR IS BEST.....
ok I can't do crazed vatnik impersonation anymore translate it yourself this insanity with Google lenses
Yeah, the M1A2S got taken out left and right by the Houthis in Yemen, but those losses were easily ignored with alongside that conflict Itself by the MSM. But this time the entire world is watching the conflict in Ukraine and the invulnerability myth of the Abrams and future sales of GD is at stake
We need to sell those to Saudi Arabia our great partner of Democracy in the middle east. Offer to purchase our tanks, take a loan from us you homosexuals
>"DC should send Ukraine M1 Abrams tanks and lead by example
Britain is sending Challenger 2 tanks. We are the ones leading by example, but the Americans and Germans are a bunch of secret Russophiles who are too scared of monke and his non existent nooks
Merica too afraid to send Abrahams on Ukraine because it's shit. Too bad we are siding with glorious Russia, because our Arjun tank is best in the world. India superpower since 2020.
I dont think they actually care about m1a2 losses, but i really dont know why they cant send ukraine 1000 of them.
A thousand Abrams will need congress approval.
H.R.6833 doesn't cover that much support.
Why not put it to congress then?
>Why not put it to congress then?
Just for starters.
Ya the sheer amount of absolute bullshit spouted from the tinfoil redhats in the government right now is fricking sad. A good portion of them pull their "facts" and opinions directly from fricking pol. And thats not a fricking joke. It still boggles the mind how a bunch of fricking conspiracy theorists actually get elected.
So the US as a whole isnt actually willing to send m1a2 to ukraine? And yet criticises germany for not sending leopards?
Is there not a work around by "selling" them to poland or ukraine for a nominal or symbolic amount?
US wants Euros to take responsibility for our security, Germany refuses to do so because they're currently ruled by a pinko 5th collumnist. Simple as.
US Joint Chiefs Of Staff Chairman literally said that a military victory for Ukraine is "very, very difficult" and peace should be negotiated.
Stop feeding the war beast. Those deaths are worthless.
I am demoralized now.
Yes, globohomosexual is demoralized. Reality is sinking in now. And Russia just sits back and keeps firing.
I think the cokehead midget is headed for retirement, and not in his Miami mansion, as globohomosexual has a more permanent solution in mind, like his interior minister got the other day.
>turbines can use many different types of fuel without issue.
Its not what they burn its having enough to burn and the abrams eats a LOT of fricking fuel compared to any other tank. Its literally fricking insane.
>the power pack can be removed and replaced in the field
It requires having spare power packs the vehicles to do said repair and the training of troops to be able to do the repair. Unless you want to send 4 support vehicles for every abrams and the staff for those vehicles trained in their use its a really fricking stupid idea to give someone with a gimped logistics capability something that is so maintenance hungry.
The abrams is a good tank but there simply isnt a world that exists where any other country has the logistics capability to actually field them in any reasonable number except the US. If ukraine gets some their supply lines will be strained far harder than if they got literally any other tank.
Time to start cranking out M60a3’s again I suppose. Considering they’d only be facing T-62s and T-72s (which they have a proven track record against)
Retooling to make old shit is an even bigger mistake for everyone involved than just procuring from another location and creates more problems in the long run. What ukraine needs is more platforms they are familiar with or a lot of a single platform that is low maintenance. The more different models you have of a platform the more of a pain in the dick keeping everything running is and if those platforms are totally different than what they are used to working on they cant repair them. The best thing you can give ukraine is actually the same t62 and 72 they are used to using because they already know how to use and repair them. Barring that the best case scenario is ONE model of MBT so they dont have to try and figure out how to repair and maintain three different models.
Brainlet here. So to give them a platform they’re familiar with, let’s say T-72s, what would it take to give them the numbers they need, as well as spare parts and ammunition? could the US just outright start producing them just for export? Or any other old/cheap MBTs, like
, for that matter.
And if they can’t, could another European nation do it? Someone who has a history with Soviet platforms, like Poland?
>could the US just outright start producing them just for export?
No. Tooling up production is a MASSIVE effort especially if its on platforms you have no experience building. If you want T series tanks you buy them off people that already have them. By the time another country tools up the war could already be over and the nation that just retooled their entire industry now has an entirely useless toolset. Same thing applies for building older tanks like the M60. It would be a year MINIMUM for the first one to roll off the plant and you just spent millions of dollars to change your state of the art factories to produce old outdated tech.
Basically the best thing that can be done is finding old stock from someone that doesnt need it to ship over. Producing from scratch is too slow and too expensive for anyone not already producing them. Which is basically just russia.
>Which is basically just russia.
Even they only have one factory that has been stalled for months
Which still doesnt stop the endless shilling about how russia has hundreds of thousands of tanks failing to note how they are almost all rusting out in a field.
Quite pathetic that a small nation like South Korea can build a tank that's vastly superior. Predominant superpower my ass
They should send 50 from active units in order to appease the Germans and allow the Ukrainians to build up training time on them.
Europe could send ~200 leopards from a mix of sources at the same time.
The idea would be that in the short term leopards will fill the demands, but in the long term, if considerably more tanks are needed, they are ready to receive M1s.
The US has deep reserves of the M1 in storage, whereas in Europe most Leopards are not likely to be given away.
The logistics excuse is absolute horseshit. Joe just wants the European Leopards to die a quick death so he can fill European stocks up with Abrams after the war.
