How do you legally defend your tanks from being destroyed overnight?
Also, I am pretty sure I've seen numerous posts about russia being able to shoot down GMLRS missles.

      1. NATO has sattelites.
      2. Ukraine has those little quad copters they fly around everhwere.

Combine those and they know everything.

      Satellites.

Lots of satellites. Enough to where live feeds of a battlespace can be maintained around the clock. Having several nations with space programs in your military alliance has its advantages.

      They still have INS
And to be tbh, the recent himars strike I've seen are a bit off. Earlier they were pinpoint precise, now they usually fall about 5m from target

I think it's more likely that last year when HIMAR fever was really hitting strong, a lot of kills that were actually 155mm systems like Excalibur or Bonus were miss-attributed to GMLR

        >>GPS jammer works all the way in a ballistic trajectory

The russians dont use GPS jammers, they use GPS spoofers, so if they are successfull with their electronic attack, the rocket miss by a lot thinking its spot on.

          Anonymous

Anon, do you know what a "ballistic trajectory" is? Unless the Russians have GPS jammers/spoofers that can reach the where the missile was launched from, they're not affecting its flight.

The Russians can't even jam a $200 hobby store drone.

What the frick convinces you they can effectively jam a layered guidance system?

        Anonymous

        >The Russians can't even jam a $200 hobby store drone.
Very far from the truth, unfortunately. Not only they jam commercial drones, they also jam US-donated military drones. The amount of EW equipment is not enough to cover everything 24/7, but when it's there, you definitely have issues

        Anonymous

Even the Ukrainians have said they've been jamming stuff. The issue is that the jamming doesn't discriminate and jams the Russians' stuff too.

This represents a pretty embarrassing failure of opsec at this point in the war, doesn't it? HIMARS is not a saturation weapon and T-90s aren't exactly falling out of Putin's ass any more. Is it too much to hope for the crews getting killed or maimed too?

How strong is a singular rocket nowdays? I get that the roof is the weakest part of the vehicle but surely a tank should provide some protection from artillery weapons? Assuming no direct hits which shouldn't happen to moving targets and sufficient dispersal and camouflage when stationary 10 tanks down in one barrage seems really dubious.

The warhead is ~90kg and +20kg of explosive, is roughly 2.5 times larger than an 155mm shell.

The shrapnel would destroy any sight, track close enough. Even the gun. Any thin side could be penned.

But better just show how effective is a 155mm in real tests:
