I have some AUS co-workers that have a similarly expensive and arduous path to firearms ownership, but they have still done so. As shitty as it sounds, if you don't participate in the legal path to ownership then you are only helping those that want to restrict it further.
When you are already in am unfriendly system of government the best thing you can do is to add yourself to the number of the marginalized that want to maintain what it has left. Otherwise you at best just help yourself while ownership continues to be phased out, or at worst become a statistic for illegal ownership that helps drive more restrictive legislation.

Oh, I'm on the same page as you on this. i just wanted to hear how dangerous this could be and that there are legal alternatives to this . I do have a license for guns and would like to help him get one, but like I said, he's an his an idiot sometimes.

if it's Germany, this is perfectly legal to own and carry
            https://gogun.de/1001170
is it as good as a firearm? well it's two arrowlike shots with the energy of a .22 short, only accurate over short distances. not ideal, but better than catastrophic failure of a homemade device or legal repercussions of illicit modifications (which, as I want to point out, could possibly have lasting effects on the ability to own firearms even if the local laws significantly changed for the better or one emigrated to a more free country).

Energy is a poor way to compare arrows and bullets, because they have different momentum and sectional density. Arrows should penetrate much better than a bullet of equal energy in a target of meat and bone.

I would try to buy a real gun on some black market. Shouldn't be too expensive if it's Russian or whatever - check their bazaars. You will have problems with ammo availability but that's how it is. Ideally you also need a suppressor for some freedom in plinking locations.

Has he tried the black market? Safer that making a close range gernade.

really shouldn't be trying it. they're built not to withstand the pressure of anything more than a firework in that screw- on cup. and even if you completely removed the barrel and replaced it with something new, at some point something is probably gonna fail, and you don't know when and how. could be the slide shattering into sharp pieces, could be the firing pin flying out the back into someone's eye.

This. I can't remember how many accidents i have seen with real guns. One can just imagine what could happen with a converted gun.

From what I've read posted from a guy who has done these they last 100-300 rounds. .32 or .380

There's a reason it's a blank gun and not just a real gun. There are barriers built into the design SPECIFICALLY to not allow it to shoot real bullets.

Ok homosexual just figure the barriers

depending on what the frame is made out of and what his metalworking skills are like it could be as easy as working the material such that you could put a real slide assembly on it, but the fact that you're asking on PrepHole and your friend hasn't already done it implies that neither yourself nor your friend have the ability to accomplish this task; and if you were smart enough to do this you'd also be smart enough to 3d print it which would be the obvious solution.

How do you do webm related though? My shithole is a joke since they limit you to 100 rounds a year while needing paperwork, but blanks can be bought even with no ID, its ridiculous.
I'm interested since I practice with mine on a small field far away from the city that belongs to an uncle of mine, and I only kept 20 rounds for SD in case of an emergency.

Procuring the tools and metals is no issue, but if I want to buy the rounds dissasembled (primers, round tips, etc) I need a fucking sportmanship license, which means just more paperwork, being on a "certified club" and paying more fees, and I must renew every two years, a fucking joke, same stuff applies if I want to buy a reloading press kit.

Guns here besides being overly expensive, we have a "limit", unless I'm a certified sportsman, I can only own two max. Its a nightmare.

Iirc blank powder burns faster so you'll need to remove some if you do this.

If he knows what he's doing: Not that dumb
      If he doesn't: Dumb

Blank guns get converted to real firearms all the time, it's been a fairly common thing among Euro criminals for many years now.

Idk how they got the jacketed bullets to put in there, but if you wish to look up how to make your own powder coated bullets, it's pretty easy. Anyone can melt lead at home and cast bullets, then apply some powder coating and put them into a casing.

      >how do you get the casings though
That's the hard part for non-Americans. There was/is a Polish guy named Focusofdarkness who made a number of homemade guns and he talked about his process. He went to some shooting range or something and scavenged a bunch of 7.62x39 brass, cut it down, and then punched the primers out and refilled them + the casings and then put home made bullets into them.

I'm American myself but I just find it interesting how innovative people can be.

Often replica guns are grey ware.
Basically a parts kit, a cheap way to import various replacement parts. Trigger groups, frames, non serialised and non proofed parts.
But obviously you need access to real gun parts of the correct model.

Then there's frankenbuilds where a fake gun is the lower receiver for a home built upper. Think "lower half of a sten gun".

Then there's gopnic guns, where some dick fires a single ball bearing with a starter pistol. Usually at someone who claims his gun is fake. Usually at a petrol station

    Anonymous

    There are also other systems.
For example you might neck down a 9mm blank to fire .22 through a pipe barrel. Unreliable, but possibly semi auto.

I've seen blunderbus made by empting several starter cases into a large barrel, then using the pistol grip to fire a blank into the flash pan. If you've increased the energy of the powder that can be a really serious weapon. It's feasable to cast a bronze barrel for a blunderbuss, while laughably heavy you would get a hand cannon.

It's doable, if he has the skill. Making a p80 would be much easier, making a hipoint carbine out of a kit would be easier too if he was in a state that prohibited 80% frames. In yurope a blank conversion or a printed gun might still be his best bet.

Those aren't designed to fire real rounds, they're meant to vent gas from a powder charge.

considering it's cheaper and easier to buy a real 9 your friend is phenomenally retarded. He should convert a blank 9 into a real 9 for sure. Record that first test fire.

  22. 1 month ago
    Anonymous

Conversion is totally possible to live fire, but you unfortunately won't get the results you're probably hoping for. 9mm blanks don't convert right to 9mm, but they do end up with .380. You can try for that, presuming you've got a Firat like in the image it's feasible. But I'd say it'd probably be better to try and make a 3d printed gun instead. If you're really gunning for using this, you're going to be looking to reinforce the slide, cutting out and replacing the barrel and then you're going to need to test it in one of those sand drums from behind cover. It'll last you, maybe 300 max, but assume you'll likely only get 100 out before the gun fails. Usable, but not ideal.
