What are you talking about? It's Ukraine that's occupying Russian land, right?

Lmao, it took Russia a month to take control over the totality of Kherson; Ukraine spent 3 months grinding for villages, and Russia still controls 73% of the region. Ukraine still hasn't made any gains in Donbas, they are nowhere near from taking Crimea, which they keep promising that they will do in 2023, "the year of victory"

Supporting Ukraine is morally correct, but you are all delusional if you think that Ukraine has high chances of recuperating the totality of it's territory, they are rather slim. Their best chance of winning this war is to get lucky and that something big happens in Russia, bringing a new dictator into power who is more concerned about fixing some of Putin's mistakes than larping as an emperor.

If you think Ukraine will ever take Crimea by military means you are literally moronic. They need AIR, and lots of it. Right now we are deliberating giving a handful of F16s and its unlikely they will get them anytime soon. They will need hundreds

One day, probably when the next Ukrainian offensive begins, people will realise that this war is not "NATO level Ukraine steamrolling Russia", but rather it's a war between two post-Soviet countries and neither of them has by any means a highly compentent army. The Ukrainian army is also filled with Soviet officers doing moronic shit, they are also fighiting using shitboxes BMP-1s and turret-tossing T-72s, both are starving for shells.

God, I hope so. I wish I could see the look on the Russian shills' faces when one day they realize they were never fighting NATO at any point, they really were just jobbing for over a year vs a former soviet puppet state a fraction of their size.
Then NATO should intervene just to hammer the lesson into their skulls.

And yet NATO gently placing its thumb on the scale will be enough to allow the offensive to succeed.

I said "NATO-level" not NATO member. NATO doesn't make the decisions in the field, they can only advice and provide information. They cannot fix the Soviet-era officers in the Ukrainian army, they are many of them, and they are high-ranking. Also, they spent an entire year fighitng over whether to send IFVs and tanks or not, hardly "placing it's thumb on the scale" more like wasting valuable time with political finger-pointing

First of all – NATO is overhyped. Most of NATO countries just barely maintain very small, decently professional militaries, only few of them even have enough manpower to be called an armies and half of them are borderline even can be called professional. Only US has truly powerful army, both through scale and skill. Overall the only reason why NATO is better than anything else is because everyone else is just so much worse.
Second – yeah, Ukrainian army is majorly dogshit, soviet dogshit. It has some nice points to it, mostly through a volunteer core left after 2015, but that is greatly overshadowed by the sheer scale of mobilized military apparatus. You can't realistically expect to provide the best training to half a million of freshly raised troops in any meaningful amount of time.
Third – no, it won't be entirely "post-soviet on post-soviet army" action, Ukraine has at least several fresh brigades in reserve trained by NATO standards or in NATO countries, and even that, to be honest, is more NATO trained troops than most NATO countries have.

      And bruh
      >both are starving for shells.
Ukraine had shell hunger from something like day 5 of war, going completely dry for some days back in march, yet here we are.
