7.62x25 Tokarev best pistol cartridge?

Thinking about getting a M57. Ballistics seem to blow 9x19mm out of the water. Is it still possible to find steel core ammo that can pierce IIIA vests?

It’s fun to shoot but it’s not going to pen IIIA and 9mm has modern rounds that are deadlier.

      Surplus ammunition will pierce it.

Only certain surplus ammo will. Lots of surplus is non-ferrous now. I can’t find any steel core online. I’m actually jealous of Canadians as they can easily get steel core norinco 7.62Tok

Well I wouldn’t be to envious because we’re not allowed to buy pistols for the foreseeable future and possibly ever again depending on how the political situation turns out.

We also can't use it on most ranges because boomers think it will go through 12 inches of titanium.

I heard it’s because it can create sparks and start fires. Seems like bullshit though

I wish we'd see an upgraded version like picrel that vietnam uses which is double stack. Surplus ammo is still out there but you'd have to test for steel core.
Piercing iiia is hard to figure out because there's so many test videos with conflicting results but .22 tcm seems like a good option and the one I'd go for it I could get a tcm for a good price though some 9mm defensive loads and maybe 5.7 ones also have potential.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of finding steel core 7.62x25? Everything I can find online is lead core, even yugo, romanian, and polish surplus. ZERO steel core ammo.

Is it something I’m gonna have to get lucky and find at a gun show?

I carry a Glock 19 already, I don’t care about practicality. I’m just looking for something fun on the trail and under $400 that can also cut through soft armor if needed.

I already have a 9mm though and it’s better than that airsoft looking gun. What I really want is an N226, but sadly you can’t get them in America. I want something in 7.62 tokarev

OP asks about 7.62x25 ballistics, states he already has inarguably the most utilitarian 9mm handgun, and you go and suggest a Turkshit polymer alternative in response. Very stupid.
Anyway I think Type 54 Tokarevs are the cheapest you can get currently, but M57s have that extra round.

He says it in the fourth post. Even if he hadn't, it's a moronic suggestion.

I have one of these but it’s never been fired because the firing pin broke and Chang at the Norinco Factory pressed the firing pin retaining pin into the slide with a fricking arbor press
You literally cannot get it out with a punch and hammer

I got one for my 18th birthday
It’s fun and all but not my favourite pistol. Once you get the trigger and sights situation fixed up it’s a great shooter. The trigger on mine is fantastic, sights still the same shitty sights

Not in a fricking zastava. I get it, there's a market, but the whole aesthetic is ruined with the slightly longer grip. Yes I am autistic about this.

Idk man I bought it specially for the longer grip. I like having all my fingers on whatever gun I’m holding

I just think it looks super ugly with the slightly longer grip. I get the reasoning behind it, and you also get an extra round, but it just drives me crazy.
