Did wikipedia tell you they should be less accurate or something? You know they're generally more accurate than AKs right?

          It's fun. Simple as.

Yes, and canted sights are normal for AKs. Nothing communists made was ever actually good, just moron-proof. Which makes them fun guns.

We're talking about a common 10 round group here, not your cherry-picked 3 round group you got 20 years ago.

Who the hell uses 10 shot groups? That's a complete waste of components and insures that you'll never be comparing apples to apples with anyone online. ES gets larger the more shots you fire, so if you're calling the gun 6 moa the assumption is that it's a typical 3 or 5 shot group.

6moa is a DOGSHIT example of an sks. Has anybody ever tried bedding one?

I’ve bedded my SKS. She didn’t put of much of a fight, or even say much

      >Has anybody ever tried bedding one?
There was that guy on GunBroker who claims he bedded an SKS, polished the trigger, put a scope on it, and said he made it as a bet he could make a 1MOA SKS. God only knows if someone bought it but if I had big money to piss away I would've jumped on it 4 teh lulz; IIRC it was $1k. Anyone have that pic yet?

I have a shorten-barrel SKS-paratrooper version my dad got in the mid 90's for like $75, that is in literal, actual "new" condition. blade bayonet AND spike were provided, sling, and 2 huge ammo tins of Steel-case and like 30 of the strippers
        its unironically my "main" rifle
i wish i knew more about "identifying" SKS's id like to know its story, and how its in such good shape.

Paratroopers were commercial SKSs made for the American market and sold by Norinco.
At the time they were also making scoped versions and some in .223.

The youtube channel Triangle 26 has some good ID videos, or you can go look at the countless archived sks forum guides to IDing your rifle.

with the bayonet folded its a surprisingly small, good handling weapon and strippers are easy to carry

Aren't those still center mass hits on a man sized target at 100 yards? What does it really matter?

I like my rifles to have some competitive use as well. Although that kind of group at 100 is adequate for most 3-gun or such anyway

I have a 5.56 Ruger ranch bolt gun and it can get 2moa groups with Tula steel case. Bolt could be a little higher smoother but it's still guud enough. Too bad iron sights are hard to find for the Ruger ranch, otherwise it would be a great scouting/hiking rifle.

yea the finish is really one of those things that's #1 on the nice to have list. that's why I don't like any of the cz 600s only the lux is nice. the other stocks are god awful. and of course, the lux isnt 7.62. to top it off they recalled the barrel swap options and glued them all in. so fricking stupid.

Because it's a surplus rifle that used to be cheap. Now it's expensive and there's better options in its price range

Honestly even now the only gun that checks off most of the same unusual boxes as an SKS does is the Mini-14, and that's still somehow more expensive

"I want a traditional looking intermediate caliber semi-automatic" is a niche that will go unfilled until Kel-Tec or PSA start investing in walnut farms

if you gave george kellgren a walnut farm he would find a way to make a wooden action to put on the cheapest shittiest polymer frame/receiver money could buy

I have a 1975 Yugo and it's my favorite rifle by a huge margin. Sure it's fricking huge, heavy, and antiquated beyond belief, but I've put uncounted rounds through it and it just keeps working no matter what.
