6 essential pistols

Hypothetical situation:
You have a friend who has never fired a gun in their life. He has, however, played a lot of computer games, so he can recognize most used weapons in the media.
You get to take him to a shooting range, and introduce him to shooting pistols.

But you can only use 6 pistols during that trip. No more. This is likely the only time he will get a chance to shoot in any forseeable future, so you want to make it a good learning experience.

What are the six most quintessential pistols you could choose?
I would argue that Colt 1911, Beretta M9/92s and Glock 17 would have to be on that list, but what else? Would Colt Single Action Army/Peacemaker be a good addition? What do you consider "essential shooting experience"?

    1. Polymer frame striker fired like a Glock
    2. SA/DA like the Baretta 92
    3. A 1911
    4. DA revolver like a S&W Model 10
    5. .22 target pistol such as a Ruger Mark
    6. SAO revolver like the SAA

You can substitute any of these but those are 6 essential categories of pistol IMHO.

As far as practical guns go I think this a pretty damn good list.
That said, there's not too much functional difference between many of those. It might be interesting to pick a broader range of guns even if some are impractical. For example:
      1) Muzzleloader
      2) Single-action cowboy gat
      3) Your choice of modern tilting-barrel semi (Glock, 1911, M9/92, CZ75, etc.)
      4) Meme magnum pistol like a Deagle, Wildey, Automag, etc.
      5) .44 Mag for a little Dirty Harry larping
      6) 5.7 or 7.5 FK or some other modern high velocity pistol.

I think that Dirty Harry -like magnum revolver is a good addition. Yeah, definently something that belongs into "essential shooting experience".

Taurus judge because it's the battlefield hardline gun
Smith and wesson govenor the same as above but "better"
    Glock but a 36
Chopped down single shot shotgun but tell him it's a deagle and to try the recoil if he doesn't believe you
Hipoint but shoot it really fast and say it's a glock 18 but never let him hold it or really get a good look at it while saying it was featured in a natgeo documentary
9mm AR pistol but with glock mags and say it's an MP5 and this is how they really look irl
Heritage rough rider and tell him it's a genuine colt peacemaker

Videogames don't mean shit and pistol shooting don't need 6 guns to master

    1).22 rifle for basic training
    2) da .22 revolver vfor building decent pistol stance and sa/da trigger control
3).22 pistol that look like a center-fire (tx22, glock 22lr, cz kadet etc)

    Then
    4) 308 rifle, semi or bolt, to build recoil management
    5) 4in .357 da revolver shooting .38wc then 38spl then .357
    6) the centerfire semi zuto pistol of your choice

So your friend has been exposed to 80% of the gun type he might encounter without being clogged by useless shit like your post desperately try to push like the unskilled 7yd magdumper homosexual you are.

    1. Double Action Revolver: Model 10
    2. Single Action Revolver: Single Action Army clone (Uberti, probably)
    3. Hammer Fired DA/SA semi auto: USP
    4. Striker Fired semi auto: Glock 17
    5. Single Action semi auto: 1911
    6. Anything in .22lr probably a Ruger Mk4
This covers all your bases. Start him on the .22 to get him comfortable with shooting skills then let him try out all the different options to see what he likes the best, whether it’s revolvers or semi autos and whatever flavor of each he prefers.

Yeah so idk what the point of having him shoot 6 different pistols would be when Glock 19 is the only pistol you ever need to shoot or own.

    Police departments know this
    FBI knows this
    Seals know this
    Delta force know this
    UK marines know this
    School shooters know this

Fun. The way OP describes it, this sounds like a tourist getting to shoot guns exactly once in their life. Which gun is the most practical choice for muh combat memes doesn't matter one bit at that point, might as well have some fun with things.

apart from other anon's suggestions, I'd also like to add old/antique/world war pistols if they're available. stuff like really old Colt self-loading designs, FN 190X, Luger, etc. I understand they're not as available, but it's also a great gateway into history and getting your friend into other aspects of guns that aren't just vidya

    G19
    Beretta 92 or P226
    1911
    .357 DA revolver (S&W 686 is a good one)
    SAA (or clone)
Something "exotic," Desert Eagle would be good if they've got one. Alternatively leave it as a wildcard for his favorite vidya gun if the range has it.

A lot of people are saying .22 but this is about giving a PrepHole noguns a "shooting experience," not trying to make him into a skilled shooter.

Glock 19 instead of the 17
For your other 3 a Revolver like the Python or close to it in .357magnum would be fun. A Deagle if they have one. A walther PDP or something like it. Then an anime gun like H&K USP or the Jericho 941. An H&K pistol should be there some where. Make sure you only shoot one bullet at a time, until he is comfortable. 6 guns to learn might be really difficult for a new gun shooter. Bring it down to 3.

    Beretta 92
    Python
    Glock 19/Walther PDP etc.

First of all, if you've never fired a gun and you want to shoot 6 pistols I'd tell you to frick off.

But let's say my imaginary friend really likes pistols, and I'm willing to go for 4. I'd line up a 1911, a Glock 19 (despite being a Shield guy myself) a revolver in something like .357 Magnum, and then lastly a Desert Eagle for the lols.

lastly, we'd get some AR-15 work in and some quality magdumps, and a nice .308 rifle on a sled to end the day. then we'd go make out in her car.

    You don't need 6 guns.
    >glock 17 or similar 9mm striker fired polymer handgun from a non-meme manufacturer
    >fnx-45 or high-capacity larger caliber handgun, preferably a .45 but 10mm can work too
    >optionally a glock 19 or similar 9mm form factor handgun
    >if you you have a lot of law enforcement that use .40 it wouldn't hurt to grab a .40 chambered 14-15rd handgun; that is granted if you can't fire .40 out your 10mm or got a .45

    >Colt 1911, Beretta M9/92s and Glock 17
solid picks, as for the other 3, at least a .357mag or .44mag, next would be deagle .50ae because everyone needs to at least once in their life (and yes, I have), and for the last, I don't know, some spicy 10mm or whatever you guys favorite movie or video game meme pistol

Now that's if we're talking Pistols Only but if we're going to go long guns too, then ar15, akm, and remington 870 (or mossberg 500) is a must too.

If he's never fired a gun in his life, I'd start with a .22lr pistol - most ranges around here are overflowing with Rugers, and Margolins, and the occasional S&W, and this would be a good introduction to the idea of recoil, before giving him something like a .44 mag.

Next, I'd move up to a 9x19 - Glock is probably the number on choice for being so popular, though I prefer a CZ, and if I could have any gun of my choice for this, I'd go with a Browning HP.

3rd - a .45 ACP, and the 1911 is the only choice, for being so iconic.

    4th - a .357 revolver to give him a taste of both .38 spl, and full power .357 - S&W model 19, or MR73/Korth Combat if we're in dreamland.

5th - Colt SAA, because it is the single most iconic handgun ever made

6th - Walther PPK, to make him feel like 007 and give him something memorable.
