It penetrates more but does wayyyyy less expansion and tumbling which is what really matters when it comes to terminal effects, that being said AK-74s look super cool especially the Afghanistan clones. Also if it’s what you had to rock with rock it hard, it will still probably kill a man so it’s fine but don’t argue it’s superior to 5.56x45 or AR-15s because the cartridge and the weapons are not in any real capacity.
Youre misinterpreting the results if you think they indicate 5.45 has superior wounding. The grey/black is permanent would cavity while the white is temporary
I’m aware, I forgot to post the ballistics chart. The 5.56x45 has a significantly larger permanent wound cavity making the 5.45 obsolete in regards to ballistics. It’s not even comparable, that being said AK-74s are really cool and 5.45 still is a rifle round and will kill a man if needed. Obviously the vatniks have been killing people for decades with 5.45 and they haven’t replaced it.
This is a bit off topic but I’ve been seeing it a lot. What’s with the rubber band thing on the stock? Does yours not actually stay in or something? I’ve seen it on almost all posts with ARs in them. Don’t have one mine so I’m curious
To make sure that the button to retract the stock doesn't comes off if you accidentally bump it into something. You can also use it for picking up the sling
if that AR had a sopmod stock it would be perfect
also is that mag a surefeed?
I appreciate your post. I also remember being 16, nogunz, and thinking mauzer/soviet wave assthetics was the coolest shit. You'll grow out of it.
5.45 is lighter while having better ballistics
By what metric are its ballistics better?
better external ballistics because longer ogive. the creators of .223 fricked uo when they limited it to stubby bullets.
No
Also no

Forgot to link ballistics

that was the point of showing the chart, that poster just forgot to include the image

5.45x39 = 212.55
5.56x45 = 250.20

I like both

I prefer the BCM. And all my mags are Surefeed.
Shit caliber for a shit platform.
wronge
I just think that AK74 ribbed mags are really, really cool
Especially plum ones
5.45 isn't better than 77gr OTM or 77gr TMK. The standard 5.45 ammo is marginally better than M193, but you have to use an AK so the point is moot.
It was better than the contemporary 5.56 when 5.45 was new, but the best available 5.45 is worse than the best available 5.56 now.
if 5.45 was invented by westerners modern 5.45 would be better than modern 5.56
