Most of that is tissue removed after the fact in surgery from infection and whatever else. The fact he is still alive being shot on his upper left side and neck is pretty telling that either 45-70 is overrated, or OP is a homosexual.

Eh, I remember reading about a gunfight where a dude with a single shot 22LR won against a guy with an AR-15 and .40 cal pistol. Fired exactly one bullet, hit the guy in the chest and killed him. Is that because .22LR is underrated, or because shot placement is important? The dead guy didn't land a single shot.

Shot placement is important. You can lose nearly half your blood and survive, but if you slip and fall in the shower you might just die from it. Hitting vitals > hitting the targrt > missing you shots

Guy must have trained alot with that .22lr and used hypervelocity rounds combined with the .22lr's lack of recoil, and immense luck on his part, I still wouldn't rely on .22lr if I had other choices.

He was probably just lucky using fmj or solid lead and it bopped the spine ending the fight

        Context behind the firefight?

        Cartel fight?

Happened in Texas. The guy who used the .22LR was charged but ultimately cleared as it was ruled self-defense. He didn't want his girlfriend hanging around with this other dude (and wife), so showed up at their house in a truck to pick her up. He had a 22LR single shot rifle and literally one cartridge which was loaded in the gun. No other ammo in the vehicle. They get into an argument and the soon-to-be-dead guy fires at the truck, puts 13 bullet holes in and through it but ultimately misses. Guy with the .22 fires back and hits the now dead guy in the chest.

It might have skated off his shoulder blade. Doesn't sound like fun but considering how close it came to his spine he should be doing a happy dance around the hospital

the caliber is irrelevant so long as it is capable of penetrating flesh and bone to destroy the systems which provide oxygen to the brain.

    >component of brain destroyed
victim dies instantly 99.9% of the time
    >component of spinal cord destroyed
    instantly paralyzed below destruction 100%
    >heart punctured
unconscious within 15 seconds, dead within 2 minutes 99.9% of the time
    >lung punctured
death within 24hrs untreated 99.9% of the time
    >digestive system punctured
going to wish they were dead until they die a slow miserable death, unless treated by competent surgeons

people don't die from non arterial wounds to flesh, but you just like to argue

    t. unironically shot and killed 12 people and wounded probably 15 more give or take

Actually only like 70% of the time with like a 90% mortality rate. Being shot in the head is FAR more survivable than you'd think. Any hit to the chambers of the heart, however, and you'd better hope you were shot in a hospital because you have maybe 2 minutes until you're irreparably fricked.

just google around sangin 2010 and use your imagination. it was an arena crawling with taliban who were very active in seeking to fight ISAF with IEDs and small arms. some article said we had 525 gunfights during our 7 month deployment. my company FAC has the record of most controls during one deployment since the vietnam war. daily air strikes from fixed and rotary constantly in the overhead, mortars pumping most days of the week and rifle squads patrolling 18 hours out of the day every day just meant me and my team was dropped in the place to be if you wanted to be a gwot gunfighter. the only other gwot guys I know that have smoked more people than my team were snipers in ramadi and fallujah 04 and rangers with multiple deployments adding up.

Neat. What rifle did you use? And how far were you normally shooting?

m40a5, mk11 and an m4. shot 10 people with the mark, 2 with the 40 and probably fired 1k rounds from my m4 that deployment. closest was 100 meters farthest was around 400m. after shooting at people at distance

Both, but there wasn't much activity at night because if you couldn't see where you were walking you would step on a pressure plate. That being said any time you heard an explosion at night it was either a taliban out placing his own or stepping on another guys ied, or a dog/donkey getting blown up.

Some dude in the 1800’s survived an actual railway spike getting impaled into his head, and even recovered to where he didn’t look like a Stalker mutant outside of his left eye getting fricked. Although his entire personality was totally changed from then on. Point is people are both ridiculously fragile and ridiculously hard to kill. The same tiny caliber that killed a bear in one shot can also be magdumped into someone without much fuss so long as a vital area isn’t fubar’d and proper medical attention is given.
