3D printing

It's been a while that I've been around here
There always used to be a thread about 3D printing funs
But recently I don't really see stuff like this anymore and the last one got deleted I think

Is 3D printing no longer welcome around here or can we discuss new designs methods and projects?

Did the printable UMP already release?

I'm more interested in 3D printing a suppressor right now.
It wouldn't last, sure, but I reckon you'd get at least something out of it.

Don't worry jannies, I live outside the US, suppressors aren't regulated here, they're just hard to source.

Next time just turn on a light when you enter a room. It would be more subtle.

You like having sex with quiet men? Try not glowing when you walk in a room.

There are many european countries where suppressor are not regulated at all and you can build them on your own
      For 22 they work fantastic
If you already have the printer it's cheaper than buying one and just as good and maybe even lighter

Nothing illegal about suppressors in the US either, you literally just fill out a form and pay for a tax stamp if you want to buy or build a suppressor, it's not a big deal unless you're a paranoid child.

        Isn't a tax stamp like 200$?
Printing a suppressor is like 5$
Not going to say it's stupid or it doesn't work but if I pay 200 bucks I want something better

do...do you not see the value in being able to print "one" infinitum under one $200 tax?

22lr suppressors can easily see 1000+ rounds if you keep the firing rate reasonable.
They melt the first couple baffle faces after a while, but one of the things about 22lr that is actually a benefit is that the more you shoot, the more lead and carbon gets caked up on the interior, into a rockhard coating - so sort of paradoxically in this case, the more you shoot it, the stronger it gets.

22 and some 9mm 3dp'd suppressors seem to hold up decently. also you could probably build one out of a regular metal tube and off the shelf parts pretty easily

The .22 ones work pretty well and last quite awhile. With subs they are stupid quiet

Like the concept on paper but reality shows the guns themselves are extremely overrated and hyped the fuck up.

Threadly reminder that there is no conflict between 3d-printing enthusiasts and machinists.
They complement each other greatly allowing someone who might not have access to heavy machinery the option to still make firearms that are a lot better than the alternatives (Being zip-guns or blades).
Anyone trying to sow discord is either a divide and conquer shill or a retarded attention seeking homosexual.
There are legitimate concerns and drawbacks to all methods of manufacturing, so I'm of course not saying there shouldn't be critique; there should be.
A message to newfags: Don't give them (you)s, simply ignore them as attention is what they want.

I am a machinist myself and built my own version of the AWCY evo scorpion
I printed the Body and machined the bolt, extractor, ejector, guide rod and even barrel myself
Only bought the trigger and filament, so I got the whole gun for less than 200 and it shoots perfectly
Didn't jam on me a single time so far, looks very cool and shoots great

At first I thought 3D printing was only a meme and you can use it only for cosplay and shit, but it turns out, 3D printing is a machinists best friend... I can't even count the times I printed a simple jig or adaptor or something to clamp
Like if I wanted to unscrew something complicated without making a scratch or dent, I just print out a little thing that fits exactly and I can hold on to

Or for example pic related: a simple centering device for a tap, just so I don't have to use a lathe

Very cool, anon. Did you do any other 3D printing /k/ projects? Run into anything in your projects that you felt like could've been done better by the designers?

There is no fukin chance this isnt a fed thread.

Threadly reminder that retards like you need to have a nice day. Making your own guns is legal in the US.
