The novelty wore off, people realized the 6 o'clock barrel doesn't make you shoot any faster, and it's really not that high-quality of a handgun for how much it costs. On top of that, they're never in stock anywhere in real life, so you have to spend $1200 on a weird gun without ever having picked it up once.

      Because it's a discount MATEBA?

A lady had ine in my nice& cozy EU (french) range shooting mostly s&b and geco 148gr 357 loads, she shot it for 2 yrs like 150 rnd/month so 2k ish round before the double action shit the bed, went for repairs for 3 month then came back only to stop working a few weeks later.
She has a nice 686 performance center now.

I tried the thing a couple of times and hated the grip ( my main revolver is a ruger 44 Blackhawk, so no big surprise here)
      Good concept, shit exécution.

this is probably the best compromise, thanks anon

      >Kaboomed gun with ruptured cylinder right next to the case head

My bet is on cleetus McFudd max loading the case with slow burning rifle powder or worse making a "mystery meat" load of rifle+ pistol mowder because he didn't empty his oowder distributor correctly and put rhe nail in the coffin by over crimping the round.
I've seen a dude kabooming a 80s series JM Marlin 1795 45-70 guide gun that way.

It has nothing in common with the meatba except the 6 o'clock barrel.
Most of its appeal was the semi automatic function.

Grip looks uncomfortably hard, would rubberized grip help? Are there aftermarket options for this? Seems like there wouldn't be much.

Anything's a finger remover if you load it hot enough.

no, aluminum and polymer framed handguns yes, the rest can handle it fine
worst case i've seen with steel framed revolver is the top blowing up but never like the chiappa

if you load bubba pissing hot loads yes, it can
keep in mind chiappa in europe is a poorgay taurus tier quality weapons that somehow manage to pass CIP

I know any gun can blow up but I’d love to see what it takes to break a Blackhawk

… want to get 6 shot 357 redhawk… want to load 343 casull loads for it.. if I ever do I need to get nickel plated brass so I can avoid confusing it with anything else and blowing stuff up..

Just load the entire case with powder, I promise you it will kaboom

Depends on the powder. If it’s H110 I don’t think it will. If it’s say longshot then you might. Somebody with quickload should run those for pressures

              Imagine
              >somehow the ruger survives buba's pissing hot 45k+ psi handloads
Wonder what kinda fps we'd get out of 357 with that amount of pressure. Think 45k is the case rated pressure, I know the super redhawk easily handles 50k PSI on super hot 44mag loads.
              Dunno about the 357 version.
Honestly, It'd probably live. I shit on ruger(NEVER EVER BUY THEIR BOLT ACTIONS) but their revolvers always seem absurdly good for what they are.

There are only two or three pictures that get circulated so probably fud lore. If it were a common thing we would have more by now.

It is kinda cool that they sell them in a single shot configuration to get them into California. Then you can buy like a $35 kit to convert to DA/SA. Sideplate is held on with torx bits, not gunsmith flathead screws.

This always looked like shit because people know what a mateba looks like.

I would buy one in a minute, at the height of their popularity, if it didn't have a fricking light rail but no optic rail and the vent rib didn't look like the world's most moronic graphic designer made it deliberately ugly because he hates his job.

The barrel sleeve comes off AFAIK, why they don't offer barrels and sleeves of different designs is beyond reason. You can still buy mateba sleeves and barrels if you can fricking find them, being the same goddamn gun but shittier means it should have been part of the original roll out.

Once they offer a barrel sleeve that looks like a mateba, or at least not gay, I'll buy it. I don't care to have a mateba at home but I just want this otherwise interesting idea to not look like the only place it belongs is in a pop music video.

people talk shit on taurus but the chiappa rhino is probably the shittiest quality handgun i've ever handled. it's on par with phoenix arms if they were made of steel instead of zinc.

Why they never made a normal version without the rails is beyond me. It’s SO close to looking cool, but they fricking failed at the finish line
