It's because PrepHole has been totally repurposed for shilling narratives and inflicting psychological damage on the people who visit the site. PrepHole is almost all

Is there any real reason for Belarussian and Russian citizens not to depose their rulers at this point? They'd get everything they could ever need by siding with the west. Jobs, wealth, investments, tech, culture and so forth. It'd completely revitalize their countries and all they really need to do is adopt non-moronic economic policies, be friendly to their neighbors and that'd be that.
Meanwhile their leaders constantly stumble like morons at the complete mercy of internet OSINT, NATO intelligence and just a few crumbs of western military tech. It's embarrassing.

What makes a reason real for you?
The russians have a reputation for political apathy and numbing themselves with alcohol and drugs from their existence.
Add the tendency of the security apparatus to violent repression and I'd argue most aren't motivated to risk change. Especially with s history of constant oppression with revolutions only enacting a new oppressive regime.

Unironic answer? Tied up in a city for a third of it, the Pontoon bridge incident(s) preventing a true pincer, a third was/is open fields where any movement would instantly be seen and stalled, and now logistically strained due to western PGMs.

Just wait until autumn when the road turns to mud, then we'll see a real logistical challenge. Long lines and poor roads will make current tactics for Russia difficult to say the least.

The whole Sievierodonestk battle was basically to secure less than 1% of Ukrainian territory, quite literally World War 1 shit, likely with similar casualties.

      Anonymous

That's sort of the funny thing you see with the vatniks, there's dozens of assaults that went in there for fricking months on end and for every assault that is repulsed- you're talking about casualties. Normal humans will be combat ineffective or reduced drastically by about 20% being in bags or out of action, orcs are also ineffective at 20% but they make them stick around until they take 40-50% (or higher) casualties because its basically funny and they have shit command-control over their troops.
Guess the nice thing about advancing after arty barrages into the failed assault zones is that they'd chum up the remains of the last 8 attacks that went in and didn't come out, so you know, don't have to look at your dead buds from another company or at least if its just meat bits then convince yourself its not your mates getting fricking smashed into food for the crows.

If I'm honest, I wasn't a fan of the Ukrainian idea of attrition warfare in a defence situation when I noticed it happening. Mostly because its something as a (former) military guy you don't ever really want to find yourself in or have to deal with the constant pressure of defence in depth having to be on its toes to deal with probing attacks and assaults. But in this instance its working really nasty.
      >Ukraine loses territory, gains time and save casualties
      >Russia uses artillery, armour and casualties to gain territory
That constant grist-mill of turnover of units, being rendered ineffective and finding more meat, metal and shells to keep shoving in there, knowing at some point you might get low of one of those three and find yourself being pushed back, losing all that territory in moments that took weeks to carve out of enemy hands.

Time is the biggest killer, the longer your in the firing line, there's just an inevitability you get hit and that's just the units your running, not factoring in some fricking idiot managing to bungle something else that leaves you wide open

        Anonymous

loses territory, gains time and save casualties

With HIMAR now and later if it's proven to be successful, the A10.
This will be the end of Russia in this war, they will lose Crimea and all their gains.
And other Russian cities around Ukraine is going to get flatten, demilitarize by the Ukraine or use as leverage for POW transfers

          Anonymous

If Russia has two obvious failings in this war its
          >C2 (command and control)
          >Logistics
The nasty thing about attrition warfare is that it catches up with you when you're on the offensive, you need to take breaks to replenish ammo, gear and reconstitute units with their replacements, then factor in a lot of their top-order officers tend to meet messy ends in some kind of death from above incident which really throws out an invasion forces tempo. But the critical thing is you want the defensive force running counter to your operational tempo so they're always on the back foot having to throw some kind of counter in here, there and not enough chance to take a break and optimise a counter attack.
So when you do have to take a break from offensive actions its a huge risk, you can't maintain that tempo of conflict then they'll just creep up all the time and with HIMARS and other strikes deep into the held territory which is killing off radar, comms systems, C2 ops areas and munitions- that's a bad place to be. If your guys and armour are only able to take ground by dying, using big tonnage of artillery throw weights and breaking their tanks on defence in depth. Well, we know how that turns out, Rommel found that out the hard way trying to make the ANZAC forces in north Africa 'go away' and failed dismally once his supply lines are decimated by the forces out of Malta and his forces were ground into attrition.

I think they're going to be in big trouble sooner or later, the cracks have been there from the start and while they can fill them with raw meat, armour and ammo it will only go so far as the original problem for its cause for it being broken hasn't been addressed yet.

                >I never once defended russia I just said they are most likely going to retake the west
Nah. Ever since the Convoy to Kyiv NATO knows that they would absolutely obliterate Russia in a conventional war. At first they were all really excited until they realised that Russia had nothing to lose once they were done with Ukraine and were facing down NATO.

And once NATO wins there's two routes the Russians can go:
1: Accept a humiliating surrender and restoration of the borders from 2014.
                2: Escalate to nukes.

Your guess is as good as mine which route the Russians would take, but it's NATO's position that they would absolutely escalate to nukes unless they couldn't even start a conventional war against Poland. Which is why Ukraine is being kept alive: every player knows that the Russian army must die in Ukraine for this to not escalate into a nuclear war.

I would expect an escalation to chemical weapons first. Spread VX on UKR frontlines. Then move 50km forward once the cleanup is done. Repeat. It would not be as politically loaded as using nukes and is easier to use at a tactical level to boot.

Natural borders is such a meme, if you exclude the Baltic countries and Poland, they could achieve this without going to war with NATIO.. but NO, apparently some river in Poland dictates that Russia has to enter a war with NATO to manifest slavic-destiny.
Also lol at Kazakhstan, why would natural borders not apply to them? they are drifting away from Russian influence like Ukraine did 10 years ago, if they annexed Kazakhstan their southern border would be a lot smaller and would include natural barriers i.e. mountains.

                >Also lol at Kazakhstan, why would natural borders not apply to them?
Who says it doesn't? But right now Kazakhstan isn't drifting away so much that the Russians would intervene - there's the war in Ukraine going on that's binding their troops; there's NATO expansion in Finland going on that's binding their troops; and Kazakhstan wasn't actually supposed to become independent even by Kazakh standards. Nursultan Nazarbayev (the guy who basically owns Kazakhstan) was already around during USSR times and was *against* Kazakh independence because he - probably rightfully - thought that Kazakhstan wouldn't survive without Russian resources (Central Asia is really fricking dry).

Drought due to the Aral Sea being gone, and a subsequent upheaval in Uzbekistan (because that's essentially the only population centre of note in that region). The Uzbeks are different from the Turkmens or the Kazakhs in that they want to wean off the -Stans from Russian influence (and instead establish their own power base inbetween Iran and Russia). How that's going to play out I don't know, but they certainly got the population down.

Yeah, my hunch is closer ties to China and potentially some kind of 'stan republic joint trade type of thing. There's plenty of manpower, resources and skilled labour there, plus they did get a decent lump of Russia's 'nope frick this' population that left instead of riding the Putin Express to the bitter end and being drafted.
The sticking point is that China is a right c**t to deal with, but its sort of the lesser or two evils there in some ways

                >Yeah, my hunch is closer ties to China and potentially some kind of 'stan republic joint trade type of thing.
Unlikely. Sri Lanka isn't even the earliest sign that Belt & Road doesn't work; the Chinese have flung tons of money at the Pakistanis in order to bring up their infrastructure, and not only was the money burnt away by corruption - the money was also more like a credit that the Pakistanis are now refusing to pay back, and there's little the Chinese can do because they have absolutely no ability to project any sort of power.

                >There's plenty of manpower, resources and skilled labour there
Where? China? Nah. Their demographics are even worse than apocalysts had predicted, and labour costs have gone through the roof. China also has to import 85% of its energy, to say nothing of the iron, copper, and silicon that they require for their low-end semiconductor production.

And if you mean Central Asia: not really either, no. Because it's so dry the land doesn't lend itself to huge population centres other than the ones in Uzbekistan, which is also the only part of the region that receives any rain at all due to mountains. If there's skilled labour (of which I've never heard of) it's more likely to move to the west than to China.

Russia had sent troops to Kazakstan to prop up the regime last year. Unfortunately for Russia, they left a very poor impression, but Russia has been doing what they can to keep Kazakhstan in their sphere of influence. I suspect that if Russia’s army wasn’t busy, we’d be seeing military intervention there, but nothing happens in a vacuum.

Honestly this whole debacle is causing me to slowly grasp that "alliances" are nonexistent in the old Soviet bloc, in a way that's not immediately apparent to Westerners. For all the bickering and historical bloodshed, there's still something more concrete that exists between the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, etc. than there is between Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, etc. "US puppet" isn't even really true because while the US is bigger than any of its allies, it's actually NOT bigger than all of its allies combined - America consists of barely a third of the manpower or money in the "American sphere"

I was confused by Luka's constant loud sycophancy towards Russia backed up by absolutely zero actual material support for Russia, I was confused by Kazakhstan being propped up by Russia and responding by essentially fricking them over on their Ukraine invasion anyway, I was even confused the other day by Putin and Erdogan embracing as Turkish weapons continue their unbroken decade of butchering Russian troops and clients.

The crazy thing is, in my own naivete, I had ascribed something higher or more noble to these people, even as adversaries. When in fact the homosexual Reddit "they're literally monsters from (insert shitty scifi/fantasy franchise here)" take might be closer to the literal truth than my interpretation. I choose to blame Genghis Khan. It's all that motherfricker's fault, isn't it? A solid millennium of subhuman bullshit.

Thing with western alliances is that they've sort of had their moment of being held to account. They basically went through that horror of horrors of
                >yeah, we fricked up
                >we really fricked that up
                >it didn't end well for us
So in light of all the warts n all being hung out for everyone to see, there's a sense of some humility to temper their otherwise old timey, historical predilections, mistakes and put it behind them to start anew. Not completely of course and none of them are saints, but they've seen that progress isn't going to happen if you're just constantly living in the past, not learning anything from it and repeating a circular mistake. Russia and a lot of the former members, client states and little rump nations never really had that.
They just turned off the lights in the early 90's and went home
No one ever said sorry, you know we fricked up, how about we sort of try not to do that again. So there's been no mending, no learning, just ancient hatreds unsettled

Oh belt and road to poverty has been a wonderful success, at proving a lot of things right about China.
The next best alternative is to jump into their most culturally close nations is Iran and Turkey, Iran is sort of a fricked up shithole full of madness, which also doesn't like them much. Turkey has some potential but is plagued by the tyranny of distance. There's quite a bit in the ground up that way though, its largely been unexploited or explored recently with modern (western) assaying and processes so there's a lot of oil, gas and other stuff out there probably good to go.

I don't see anything good for china in the near future, but if they can make some money off them before it implodes it'd be worth doing. Sort of the old practice of making money during chaos

Don't worry, once Ukraine joins up with NATO, gays will become their political commissars and men will suck dicks and piss on each other in the streets for a whole month straight just like in Western Europe and the U.S.

With long term dictatorships like that its really very hard to get close enough to off one of them. There's just layers upon layers of nepotism, dependency, corruption and security mechanisms built into the whole architecture of the state and its leadership. So to some extent they are faced with the problem that
      >sticking your head up gets it cut off
      >no one to rule if they leave
      >chaos ensues, everyone starves
Now they may or may not be 100% certainty but like anything, you're staking your life on some odds of it working or doing nothing and continuing to live what is arguably a very 2nd rate existence but you're still living
Their old tool in a new coat of paint is the complete control of the media, social, traditional or otherwise has been done up and honed to just provide exactly what the state wants people to hear, see and ultimately do. Which to some extent that bubble is very hard to break out of, facing the unknown and not knowing just on a comparative level how fricked it is. Then there's still the old trick of making the proles know, that if the leader goes, the state goes and it will be absolutely fricking terrible, so its in your best interests to keep things as-is

I mean, you can complain... but at best no one listens, at worst, your entire existence gets deleted

It's the same reason why we don't seriously ponder why the Best Koreans don't put out Krispy Kreme Jong Un. We know why. They've been brainwashed into preferring death before change that's counter to the state.

Nah its more a case that the chance comes along, but you've got to get the knife into the whole social structure and apparatus to change things. It can be done, but its rarely done because most of the time it needs external support to do it- plus just looking at Ukraine as an example, they made the change they wanted and needed to a pro-Ukraine gov instead of pro-Rus, but at that particular time Russia just basically jumped in at a chance to make some money, do a bit of fricking around and sadly they didn't have much in the way of Western backers to prop things up and Russia got away with it.

Here's the funny part; a huge part of Ukraine is already pro-Russian. Russia can't even defeat a nation in which a sizeable minority sympathize(d) with the invader. America had absolutely nothing in Iraq. The Kurds lent their support naturally but that was more symbolical. Imagine if Iraq had a sizeable minority that spoke English and even identified themselves as American. America would destroy Iraq without even attacking its borders.

Its a bit more complicated than being 'pro-russian' as there was about 7 decades of Bolshie-shenanigans going on which saw a lot of populations of various countries moved around inside the USSR, so you tend to find people with relatives in all sorts of places in the former USSR that have some kind of ancestral history across the whole continent. They often have something in common with their neighbours and they may also have some existing family in another country nearby and that's fairly important to remember that while they might have some neutral or even slightly favourable feelings towards another country- it doesn't mean they are 'pro-russian' in so much they approve of the current government or its practices.

SU and Germany were allies. The German tank training grounds were in Russia, the luftwaffe fighter pilot training grounds were in lipetsk, and both sides participated in military training with each other right up until Hitler hit the crack pipe yet again and invaded for some of 'dat lebensraum. The idea that Russia and Germany were only "allies of convenience" is a post cold-war myth invented by assmad Europeans.
